  • Changing Driver loft affecting spin rate?

How much change, if any, in term of golf ball RPM are expected if you increase or decrease the loft of driver?
Should you even be worried about this since there will be minimal change?
    Thanks,

      Thanks,
Im no expert but Iíll throw in my 2 cents.
I donít think thereís a definitive answer. So much depends on how you hit the ball. But I would suspect that yes, changing loft absolutely changes your spin. Without knowing your numbers itís hard to say what the change would be but I donít think it would be minimal. Often questions like this come up when a club is on sale. My advice, if itís not the right club for your performance then thereís no point in saving the money. Better not to buy it and save the whole purchase altogether.

Iíd go hit some balls at GT Iím tjeor sims. Itís free. Hit the same club with different lofts and have a look at the numbers. Thatíll give you good idea.

Absolutely it does. Loft is the single most important contributor to launch and spin in terms of heads. Moreso then any moveable weights etc.

Now will 2 different drivers at the same loft spin even close...maybe not. Due to CG location etc.

The biggest factor for us players is strike location.

          Thanks,
with a fixed degree head(non-adjustable)and all other things remaining the same, it was about 250-300 rpm per degree

it's not so clear cut with adjustable heads because of the combination of the variables that can be introduced aside the loft change.

here's the result from a test
