  • Looking for an online teacher/method for my swing *video*

I built an indoor simulator to practice over the winter. I'm not looking for a swing overhaul but would like to focus on improving my face contact (I'm hitting it all over the face).

I want to do some online coaching or buy into a swing method. I just don't really know what to be looking for.

Monte? Stack system? Gankas? I'm having a hard time cutting through the marketing and seeing what might be a good fit for my swing.

For my money, Dan Whittaker from over the pond. Solid swing coach. I will use him if need be in the spring. Check out his YouTube channel

I take lessons from a chap in the UK , the timing can be a little awkward cause of the time difference, but he is dynamite .

Practicing without specific goals wont improve your score.

Monte is good with hip restriction, which is your problem.

Film Face on and Down the TOE line at waist height for maximal usefulness.

Your problems are better seen in DTL view.

It prevents proper rotation, which leaves you to lateral movement of the hips (which you do excessively.)

I'm working with Jordan Bazzone on Skillest who is mentored by Shauheen Nakjavani. He's reasonably priced, really knows his stuff, and offers free phone consults which is really helpful. I'd suggest getting a Garmin R10 or something to give you metrics for your indoor setup. I messed my swing up last year working indoors with only carry numbers. I was hitting pull draws without knowing it just because of how my garage was set up. Took a while to get my start line comfortable in my head again once outdoors.

Are you doing a video lesson or a zoom lesson?

A DTL perspective would be advantageous here. I’m really not sure how one can say definitively that hip rotation is the issue with your swing.

I would like to say that while all those mentioned above are knowledgeable instructors, I recommend you find a teacher that will maximize your abilities. The 2 things that stand out in your swing. . .1) speed & 2) athleticism.

I’m all for creating dynamic movement in the golf swing. Not too fond of that rigid contrived stuff. Allow the body to move in a way to support your speed and balance. I think at its core, the best swings are balanced athletic motions. Golf is a speed/power game, not a positional game. That said, it’s not purely a swing-for-the fences- long drive contest. The current generation of talent that dominates the leaderboards week in and week out are proof of this.

I see too many instructors largely influenced by unproven theory, regurgitating nonsense that doesn’t apply to the student, forcing & over-exaggerating positions that don’t make sense dynamically. I see a lot of contrived symmetry to satisfy an aesthetic. It’s all over YouTube and IG.

Utilize your strengths. Your body and proportions are unique to you. . .find a teacher that embraces your uniqueness.

99% of the instruction you read in books and magazines, see on TV, or receive from your coach is correct. It’s just that most of it doesn’t apply to you - Mike Adams
