I won't offer any technique advice as I agree with those saying that chipping can't be taught on a golf forum, but here are the chipping rules I have the most success with:

    6i - 1:5
    7i - 1:4
    8i - 1:3
    9i - 1:2
    PW - 1:1

These are my carry to roll ratios and they are reliable. I like to get the ball rolling asap, so all I need to do is figure out distance to the hole and pick the club based on the ratio above. Even without factoring green speed, lie and slope of green this will get me a reasonable putt every time.

For those that can't find a retail copy immediately, you can find the DVD online (as a DVD iso) at least until you can purchase it.
      For example, here.

I'll be hunting down lefty's DVD.

Pelz' short game bible changed my game.
        I used to be a 60° junkie.
Now it's dead weight in the bag - I use it maybe 2 or 3 times a year for a downhill short-side or something.
I also reacquainted myself with my pitching wedge for these types of shots
For a 50/50 PW is the club of choice for me (depending on the greens).
10 yds off the green with 13 yd roll would be a 7:00 to 7:30 with a PW, maybe 9-iron.

An intuitive person might find a bible or two on a Google site about morning woodworking.
