  • Third Person Mentality

Some people advocate using the third person to voice self-criticism and concern as it acts as a buffer against stress. For example, instead of thinking, "I really chunked that chip shot" put it in the third person, i.e. "Bronc really chunked that chip shot". It's a lot easier on the ego and helps to get back into the flow of the game.

One must always be careful with those "inner voices"......

Austin Powers: My god, Vanessa's got a fabulous body... I bet she shags like a minx... How do I let them know because of the unfreezing process, I have no inner monologue? I hope I didn't just say that all out loud just now.

Fortunately there are no rules limiting the number of golf balls you can carry during a match!

A lot of golfers do this. Jordan Spieth does it a fair bit and Tiger of course, "aww come on Tiger what are you doing". Amateurs do it too probably to emulate the pros But do people refer to themselves in third person when they hit a good shot? I don't think so haha.

My buddies know when I'm pissed I blame Alice. When I'm really out there with poor play Alicia comes out. Al I suppose this may come off as somewhat sexist.
