  • How far down HWY 81 or 95 to golf mid February?

Just wondering how far south I need to drive from Ottawa to play on grass mid to late February? And any recommendations where to play that have great practice facilities...outside on grass?

If you leave tomorrow you will need to get to Florida with the storm coming. Feb you could get to Santee.

Hoping closer than Santee, doesn't have to be 20 degrees, but at least 10 degrees and not more than 10 hours from the Landsowne Border (Gananoque).

I never did this but when I was working, 15 years ago, a group of guys from work would go to Pinehurst between Christmas and New Years every year.

Every year was different, as is every place down as far as Myrtle Beach.

You're looking at Richmond, VA. Played a decent track called Mattaponi Springs just north of there....it was a nice day but that was in April. You'll probably be looking at anywhere from 1-10 in late February.

Unless you catch a warm week you will not find something with 10* temps in February within 10 hours drive.

The Charlotte and surrounding area has a ton of good courses and will average about 6*c in February. If you go late month will get up a couple degrees more. Thats about a 12 hour drive. I've played many rounds in the Shelby area.

as you get closer to the coast the temps generally are a bit warmer. I've been to Myrtle in late February and temps were typically upper upper 40's to mid 50's on average but could get as high as mid 60's.

The poster who suggested Pinehurst is probably the best advice, thats under 13 hours from your border crossing and will get you daily average temps in the low 50's. Conditioning will be decent as well.

the other option if you have flexibility is to closely watch the weather and see if an unusual warm trend is coming to an area further North.

Might get a round with Fudd, aka DL III. We nicknamed him that years ago when he wore those tall hats.

Mid- late Feb Myrtle Beach should be good. Might have some cool mornings kinda like fall golf around Ont.

Second Santee. Lots of courses and reasonably priced. If it’s cool you will still get to play with few around you.

Seeing as Santee is the same distance ( actually a bit further ) than Myrtle Beach from his start point, I would choose MB all day every day.

Ocean City MD if he watches the forecast carefully and gets lucky with the weather? 8-9 hour drive from Gananoque. EDIT: average temp is 9 degrees on Feb 28 -- he might get to his threshold of 10, if lucky.
