  • Stay and Play in USA?

    Hi All,

Looking for some ideas for a relatively static, 3-4 day golf weekend in the US. Thinking probably FL but maybe AZ if circumstances are right. Rather not fly too far West for such a short trip.

Trying to land at one spot and stay there without a lot or any need to drive about, while maybe playing at least two different courses.

Anything come to mind? (should add, couples weekend but all Golfers)

    Cheers,

    Pete

    In Florida, Stream Song Resort

In Phoenix /Scottsdale, The Boulders Resort and Spa would be my first choice or JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa

all have great golf and all the amenities on site

I've stayed ( and played) at The Boulders, it's a wonderful resort. Have been back a few times.
I have been to the JW Marriott several times to play the courses and eat but haven't stayed there.
Streamsong I have not been to but have researched extensively for a possible quick getaway. Having talked to people who have been, they spoke highly of it.

let us know where you end up going

Just a heads up regarding Phoenix.......the super bowl is in Phoenix this year. With covid over, Waste Management in February, a million snowbirds and Super Bowl the green fees are crazy high. Quintero is asking $500 during Super Bowl week

Innisbrook, Hammock Beach, PGA National, Omni Amelia Island, World golf Village, but Tiburon at the Ritz Carlton two great courses on site with a shuttle to the beach would be my favorite.

I haven’t been to Streamsong but everyone I know that has, has nothing but praise for it (other than the price)

The JW in Phoenix is very nice and I think they renovated it recently

Winter pricing was always pretty stupid in Phoenix. We would pay $30/$40 in September for courses that charge $200-$250 in winter.

Covid made that worse. We love Quintero, Pre covid we paid $70 for Quintero ( boys paid $140 in 2021 ) and pre c19 we paid $150 to play both TPC courses and got a free lunch, in between. Last September both wanted $300 or something in off season !
love Quintero, could be my fav course in the area but at that price, No thanks.

the demand is always high in winter with snow birds, WM Open, Barrett Jackson ....SB just makes that even worse.

Innisbrook, Hammock and World Golf I have done and all were good and more reasonably priced. Did Innisbrook in November and the staff service and attitude was outstanding.

The Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, AZ has 3 championship courses to play as well as being a great place to stay. I wouldn't recommend it during Super Bowl week as it is only minutes away from the stadium but otherwise something to consider.
Gone golfin' ... be back about dark-thirty.

Sea Island in southern Georgia is fantastic and actually pretty reasonable if you stay on the golf package at the Inn (Cloister and Lodge are very expensive). 3 great golf courses, grade A food and transporation to and from where you want to go at the resort in their high end shuttles. Strongly recommend.

I was at Streamsong in Nov for a few days - Worth every penny. Let me know if you want some intel, happy to share what we learned.

Looking at We-Ko-PA in phoenix for 2023. Great courses, resort is highly rated.

Both courses at We Ko Pa are very nice. I'm partial to Cholla but it's like saying I like lobster tails better than crab legs.

two unique designs in the middle of nowhere with unspoiled and undeveloped lands around them make for a great location and experience.

They are however not cheap and will run you $300 US a round in silly season. We play them regularly and played both course one day this past September and paid $240 US for the 36 holes. In previous years we had paid ~ $80/round .

Also, the courses are " out there " so if you want to do other things it will be a drive as there is really nothing else around the resort. 30-40 minute drive to DT Phoenix in good traffic.

Haven't stayed at the resort but it looks nice and there is a casino and restaurants so self contained.

I took this picture teeing off at 7am on the Cholla course in a 2 man best ball tourney in Sept.

I was in Scottsdale in December and wekopa was $199 for some reason at 7am. Grayhawk was $350 I believe and is $800 during super bowl week.
Westin Kierland is a good resort and has 27 holes on-site and is within 15mins to a lot of others. Nice to get away but pricing is pretty crazy right now in Scottsdale.

Have been to streamsong but if you’re staying there keep in mind there is absolutely nothing near by. Unless you bring snacks and food you will buy literally everything on-site. Golf and restaurants are great but wouldn’t want more than a couple nights there.

I hear the fishing is pretty good at Streamsong as well, but don't think it's open to the public.
