two unique designs in the middle of nowhere with unspoiled and undeveloped lands around them make for a great location and experience.

They are however not cheap and will run you $300 US a round in silly season. We play them regularly and played both course one day this past September and paid $240 US for the 36 holes. In previous years we had paid ~ $80/round .

Also, the courses are " out there " so if you want to do other things it will be a drive as there is really nothing else around the resort. 30-40 minute drive to DT Phoenix in good traffic.

Haven't stayed at the resort but it looks nice and there is a casino and restaurants so self contained.

I took this picture teeing off at 7am on the Cholla course in a 2 man best ball tourney in Sept.

Sandestin is great, have been several times, but the weather can be iffy in January/early February (but it can also be perfect; not sure what time of year OP is thinking of going) and, probably more importantly for a short 3-4 day trip, it is not the easiest place to fly to -- you're going to have to change planes at least once.

OP is finding everything CRAZY expensive right now. Plans on hold ;-)

Did look into some awesome spots that to the advice here. Might try on the Fall side of the year. Spring to pricey for my liking right now.

That is unfortunate, but yes, spring is always more $$$ than fall. A couple groups I know cancelled their annual spring Myrtle trips for other destinations and later

We have done Arizona every September for 21 years now. We go for the week after labour day. It is still very hot 100-110 every day but considered " off season". Courses are immaculate as they don't start with their winter overseeing until a little later.

prices have gone up though post covid, both green fees and accommodations. I would say 30% more.
We had to drop a couple regular plays like Quintero and TPC Stadium as they wanted more than double what we used to pay. We ko Pa went up to $240 for the 36, versus $160 pre covid. Others however, were still excellent value and less than $50, and 1/2 that for replay

Indeed! We do Florida or Orlando every year for a decade now but always November area. Way different pricing seasonally, and the post COVID kicker hasn't helped!

We recently golfed in Myrtle beach,

                Highly recommend Prestwick & Arrowhead.
                Arcadian Shores not so much.

Myrtlewood Resort was just what we were expecting, clean & bathrooms for each of our foursome. ( 2 condos )

Back in the mid-late 80's to mid 90's we did MB each January/February and Spring. Arcadian Shores was often a day 1 venue , that or Pine Lakes, due to the close proximity with our hotel/condo suites.
AS was always a low-mid level course , nothing bad, nothing outstanding and usually included in packages as a non-upgrade venue. It was always good challenge. It used to be affiliated with a major hotel, not sure if that is still the case.

                    Appreciate your reply,

We have booked Orange County, both Panther & Crooked Cat. I know one or both has been a Q school course.

Has anyone played either, if so, how many dozen balls should I be prepared to lose?

They're decent and not overly difficult courses.

Not sure about Q school. I think they're more known for their instruction/academies and being the equipment demo site during the PGA Show due to their massive practice area.
