How come there aren't more ranges in the city? Yes I know that real estate is expensive, but why not take an abandoned lot or something by the hydro poles. All you need is 200 yrs and then can put up some nets. The main reason younger generations aren't playing the game is because there isn't opportunities for them. I grew up on a golf course where you wages were your rounds and buckets. It go me out on the course in the morning and after school to practice. Now you have to play a round to get practice and they don't even offer 9 holes at most courses. What they need to do is install better short game facilities so people can practice. Rattlesnake had a great facility and I would head to the back range and just do my own thing for a few hours back there practicing 50 and 100 yr shots. Great part was I never had to retrieve those balls.

Agree with much of the article.
The worst thing a parent can do is , nag, push and force kids to try a sport and to play one. Too often parents try to force their kids into the sports they play and played themselves.
If your shows an interest in sports, get them involved for FUN be it simply playing catch, going to a batting cage, driving range, heading to the park to kick a soccer ball, and/or register them in house league soccer, lacrosse, hockey etc, Semd them to a fun and recreational summer sports camp , one that focuses on one sport or several.
chances are they will be more interested and eager If their friends are involved. Many sports associations are aware of this and will allow kids to sign up for a league and identify a friend that they want to play.
Kids quickly decide what sports they like and don’t and know what they are good at. Support their decision and choice, even if it means no sports.
My my kids liked hitting balls at the range and puttering on course on vacation, but never wanted to play golf more than that."Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened "
