Interesting. For many years when I coached, filming of games was a no no. Then almost overnight it was a given each team had a tripod making whole game videos.

Not 100% but it likely has to do with the sharing of images on social media.
I know from my daughter playing girls/women's hockey , a form had to be completed each season to allow or not allow images to be shared. All games were filmed for team use but the trouble arises when there is a player(s) who has not consented and images or video is posted on say a team website or social media.

Maybe we coaches and parents signed something with small print but I sure don't remember reading it. That's Rep ball where the videos are now standard fare. I do remember one year in high school where we got an email from the convenor saying nyet to even having an iPad on the bench.

It's a difficult subject to address but obviously an important one to be considered for various reasons.

          Here is one such example.

one would think that anyone in media knows this and would make sure they check with the teams before proceeding.
There is probably some shared responsibility, ie the child and child's parents to try and catch and prevent their child from taking part in any such activities. I know all parents, coaches etc in the association my daughter was involved in received written and digital guidelines to not post any team or player photos on social media. I would guess it only applied to teams with non consenters on it

What apparently happened in the situation I mentioned above was an individual did post images on SM without checking and it included photos of a kid(s) that had explicitly said no and the preverbal poop hit the fan and I hear it is messy.

my son who was involved in Grade and HS Band brought home such forms and whenever there was a music concert, a teacher or the principal stood up and made an announcement that videotaping is allowed but if sharing any with family, friends and social media of any sort to make sure it ONLY includes images of your own child

Not a fan of social media, but I'm okay with it to a certain point. I was playing with foursome and we were held up for more than 5 minutes by the two couples playing ahead of us (in a group of four). They knew and saw we were waiting on them to clear the green, but they still decided to film and take pictures around the pin after putting out. After 5 minutes, I called out 'fore' and launched my golf ball toward the green (made it on). For some stupid reason, I had to do that to make them realize that people were waiting on them to clear the green.
