  • 1940's Vancouver, B.C. Men's R/H Persimmon wood set

Saw a listing on Kijiji this morning for 8-9 golf clubs, stove pipe bag and some older golf balls and tee's. Five hickory shaft irons, one set of Walter Hagen persimmon woods and a second set of persimmon woods by ProMade. Headed out to London, Ontario to see the clubs. The ProMades are Menís R/H steel shaft with brown pyrotene sheaths. They all have leather wrap grips and have red end caps. They appear to be Model 401ís. All the heads are crack free BUT the Driver at the bottom of the face where the sole plate meets it has one large dent in it and one smaller ding. Heads are loose and hosel whipping is not original. No whipping on the top or bottom of all three grips as well.

Date of manufacturing.....1940's (Mike Riste - B.C. Golf House)

    Now..the numbers...
    Driver - 43 5/8ths long with a D4.5 swing weight
    Brassie Ė 43 1/4 inches long with a D4.5 swing weight
    Spoon Ė 42 3/8ths inches long with a D6.3 swing weight

Repair went well. Last two pictures are of the repair.

    Included are a few pictures.

Blair, have you tried a Pizza wheel to re-cut(roll) those shallow ultra fine groves that were common on solid persimmon faces?
      Things change.

No I haven't Dekker ...I have several fine hand saws of various blade diameters. I'm going to have to keep that method in mind. There is a tool out there for making those shallow and close together face lines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99nULlkhq_w
Charlie Penna has one of these face scoring tools. I was in Pickering,Ontario about 4 week's ago at a Antique Tool Show looking for this tool. No luck.

I should try the Pizza Wheel to roll existing lines or make new face line lines. Thanks for the tip.
