  • One more club

I recently committed to one club more on all iron/hybrids than I think I need. 7 iron used to be from 165, now from 150. Etc.
what a difference, better tempo, balance, smoother swing and better contact knowing I’ve got lots of club.
Aiming for centre of the green, no short siding.

law of averages, more likely to miss hit, than hit every ball too good.

    last 3 rounds
    16/18 greens (5 3 putts)
    15/18 greens (4 3 putts)
    13/18 greens (2 3 putts)

I should have done this years ago!

now to work on my putting from 25 feet....

Such a simple find to greater success !

I've often said to keep clubbing up until you start complaining about going long.
Many people are chronically short and never do anything about it, other than to try and swing harder and hope for perfect contact. Take more club, swing easier.

I started to do that this year and have been scoring so much better as my putts are that much closer and really have decreased the number of 3 putts I have been taking, been swinging easier with more club, just not over swinging..

Well done . . . I was never one to say I hit my 7 iron 180 yrds . . . my 9 iron is 125 . . . one thing is my distance is usually exact, aim well sometime not on target . . . shot in the 70's this year about 10 times (most ever) . . . 1st round of our CC was 79 (quite happy) . . . we have a short Par 3 (about 120 yards) and still see people hitting PW and they tell me they never hit the green once this year I hit my driver/fwy/hybrid pretty far, my irons are high and not crazy far. More important to hit the green than to brag about distance . . . well done!!!
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

It's taken about 20 years at this sport for me to figure that out.

Aging, getting shorter, and in early season I overclub until I hit 3 in a row long. It's nice to be pin high more often, instead of short "again".

Yep, been doing that a lot this year. Especially with the wedges. Hitting a lot of approaches tight from 125 in

I've been taking extra club more often this year and have seen the benefits. Yesterday I was in a scramble, on a 415 par 4, and had 175 yards to the pin for our 2nd shot. Rather than trying to hit a perfect 6 iron, I took my 4 hybrid(my 180-185 yard club) and hit it 12 feet past the hole, where we made birdie.

That sounds like something that I'd have to play around with at the range before carrying it onto the course. My less-than-full shots often lead to deceleration and lots of fat contact.
