Re: WHAT ARE YOU FAVOURITE MUSCLE CARS?

For a new-school take on the subject, there is the definitive ( and first ) German Muscle car -> the BMW E39 M5 ( 1998-2003)

In 2008 I bought a low mileage 2003 M5 with 24,000 km on it and happily racked it up to 160,000km before parting with it.
I pimped it up futher with a Supersprint headers, Remus mufflers, Shark/Conforti chip. It was the sweatest sounding ride I have ever owned.

              Nicest looking:

              GM - 1968 -72 Olds Cutlass (442)

Ford - 1967-70 Mercury Cougar (gotta love the retractable headlights and sequential turn signals)

              Chrysler 1969-74 Dodge Challenger

              Best Performing:

GM - 1970 Buick GSX Stage 1 - This car had the highest torque rating of ANY muscle car at 500 lbs. Shadowed by Chevelle's it was a sleeper

              Ford - 1969 Shelby GT500KR

Chrysler - Hemi Dart (scary fast)

BTW.....check out this story. The car got $280 000 at auction.

I too love the GT500 yet many prefer the original GT350.

Also like the Cougar which was 'the muscle car for gentlemen'.

Of course the Superbird which was a sales failure but is now a highly prized collectible.

              Chevelle SS396 eliminator

Mercury Cyclone Cobra Jet or the fullsize Mercury Marauder (toss up between them),

I never played the game, first car was a '74 Mustang II , then got a '77 Trans Am, then the FIRST new car I bought was an '81 Honda Prelude...probably explains the Kia Soul I drive now! ...but I can dream (my best friend growing up had a '67 GTO, which I helped him restore)
Darn. Just read this after posting my response.

A toss up between the Mustang and the Charger. Their exhaust sound was everything.
Buddy drove a 350GT, and it was a handful.

                  things change

Remember my dad getting a rental when the car was in the shop, I think I was around 12 years old.

Comes home with a Hemi orange Charger with white vinyl interior.
Would literally vibrate the dishes in the cupboards.

Recall mom not being very happy with his choice.
