I'm pretty sure he was having a TGN winter thread flashback. Went mental for a few seconds.

Watching it live, it looks like it was the second cross check that was called... at that point 3 and 4 were just for good measure.. I believe the announcers stated he was lucky not to have gotten a second minor penalty. Agree completely that it was a rare flashback to the naz of old, and not the player we've seen this year.

Both Kadri and Marincin took non necessary retaliation penalties, not sure if they didnt score on one of them, either way that's a quick way of ending up on the bench. After watching both I wanted to personally walk on the ice and smack both of them, I can imagine what Babs was thinking.

Two questions while we wait for tonight's game.

1. Have the Caps brought their A game to this series yet?

I'm still amazed that the leafs were in both games, but its hard for me to believe that the leafs have gone from dead last to Playoff contenders in one season. I don't watch enough hockey to judge the Caps play in the first two games though.

2. Is it Anderson's play that has gotten the leafs this far as some pundits a claiming in the last day?

No doubt, you need your goaltending to be top notch for the playoffs, but it seems to me that the leafs are firing on all cylinders and getting season high performances through four lines.

A good example of what I think is hyperbole about Anderson is the claim that his breakaway stop on Ovechkin saved the game. From my seat, it looked like Marner's extra effort to get back kept Ovi from having a quality shot.

Caps may have brought their "playoffs A game". Which would be good news for us.

I think Anderson's been generally great. If he'd been really great the first game would still be going on. No complaints though, he'd made a boatload of great ones to keep us in it.

Agree - Marner owns at least 1/2 of that save.

I really do think the April Leafs are >>>>> November Leafs. We're actually pretty good, by any measure.

Zaitsev is confirmed for tonight. With Polack out, that is fantastic news.

I've been wondering these questions. Are the leafs really this good? Or are the Caps just not playing their full potential yet. Are the Caps folding under the curse of the presidents trophy winners and their historical playoff "Choke".

I think they have honestly - I just think they aren't the fastest team in the league and Toronto is both quick and has a pretty solid (Gardiner giveaway notwithstanding) exit strategy from the defensive zone. Pretty tough for Washington to establish their forecheck/cycle game. Not sure this is a great matchup for Wash. Penguins speed gave them fits too.

We've seen snippets though and they can definitely hem the Leafs in when they get it going.

As much as I think McElhinney is a quality goalie, pretty sure we're 0-2 if he's in the net. Anderson has been standout.

Habs fan here . . . but I am excited about the Leafs and Sens game tonight.

The Caps are a better team, but when everybody works hard and together not that much of a difference between the 2 teams.

Please Leafs fans . . . get off the back of Gardiner and Andersson. They have both been awesome and for me the best 2 players of the Leafs in the first 2 games.

One thing that we have to realize, the goalies are just amazing. To score you have to make a really good play or have some kind of deflection. The Leafs goal in OT was just beautiful, that is what you need to beat Holtby. Radulov's goal last night was a thing of beauty.

Let the games begin . . .
