Help

We are looking at upgrading our 30 year old kitchen. Entire kitchen gut. Replacing the cabinets, floors etc.
We call a a couple kitchen cabinets coompanies to measure and complete a 3D rendering.
We felt that they weren't experts in designing and get the best layouts.
Needs some help with either a good designer or a cabinet maker who has someone who can help with maximising space

While we didn't ultimately use them (for various non-related reasons) the designer/project manager (Clancy) who came to visit us from Olympic Kitchens was great. Had lots of great ideas and put together a design proposal that really maximized the space that we hadn't previously considered.

The consultation is free so no harm getting them in to give you a proposal and quote.

Kitchen reno is great but don't forget to look at the big picture. While viewing houses we looked at one where the owners spent about $150,000 on a kitchen reno. They vaulted the ceiling, added an island, new tile flooring, big temperature controlled wine room and beautiful cabinetry. The rest of the house looked like crap. If your kitchen floor ties into a tiled main floor hallway you're going to want to do that to. I don't have anyone I can recommend but definitely use one. They may come up with ideas you hadn't thought of.

We just used our old kitchen footprint, installed new flooring and cabinets. Layed new tile from the front door, powder room and into the kitchen while we were at it. I wasn't entirely pleased with the finished product...it's just OK. The contractor is a friend that branched out from painting to reno's. I just use him for painting now.

Renovating to sell? Don't blow the budget. Renovating to stay 10-20 years? do it up right and don't scrimp.

another idea is to go visit some model homes in your area for some ideas. Take a notepad and take some pictures of things you like and don't like.

The kitchen is the builder model and has not been updated

We are planning on staying for about 5 years however looking at updating it.

The cabinets are falling off and could injury the wife

Options for the cabinets are MDF or Birch. Was told that the price is similar

don't know if ikea is an option but they have 10-20% off right now

We had a bunch of quotes for custom cabinets for our kitchen and it ended up being too expensive. All we're around 15k for cabinets. We settled on Ikea cabinets which ended up being around 4k. Quartz counter were 3300 installed. Your budget might have to change if you're looking for custom cabinets and quartz to be under 10k

MDF -10k
Birch -11k

Cabinets. Sink. Range hood and accessories

Counter top is extra.

Still haven't found the right layout so looking for a good designer.

Why don't you draw out a design that works best for you and what your looking for in order of "maximizing" your kitchen space. Will help when you have companies come in and try and capture your vision

Would love to draw it however i don't have the creativity to vision it

Look at the lowes stock cabinets.Higher quality and cheaper than ikea l. I have put in at least 30 kitchens with these cabinets and everyone is always happy.
As for design ,unless you have a huge space or are planning on removing and moving walls you will be stuck with pretty much the same layout with small tweaks here and there.
You are probably in the $15- $17 k range with the Lowe's cabinets (including counters)
