OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remained tight-lipped Monday about the mysterious mission of Liberal MP Nicola Di Iorio.

Di Iorio has not been seen in Ottawa since Parliament resumed sitting Sept. 17.

On Monday, the prime minister dodged reporters’ questions about the prolonged absence of the MP, who also has an active law practice in Montreal.

Trudeau twice told reporters outside Parliament that they should talk to Di Iorio about it.

Last week, Di Iorio posted a short message on Facebook saying Trudeau assigned him responsibilities that necessitate his absence from the House of Commons.

The Quebec Liberal MP first announced his resignation last April, but didn't follow through on his promise to quit.

After posting a lengthy statement on his Facebook page Tuesday, Di Iorio told CBC News his resignation will take effect January 2019.


This guy was paid for the rest of the year, even though he did not return to Parliament Hill, when the house resumed...The song and dance, by the party is also perplexing..

Was never a fan either. Just another slimeball who has spent his adult life as a wanna be mayor, MPP, MP. Basically anything to keep his snout in the public trough.

Tell him to take 2 aspirin, toss him from parliament, from the party, cancel all the gov't pensions he's accumulated and never cut him another gov't pay cheque. Please.

Unless it's revealed that there's medical or other legit reason, some rich, bored lawyer should sue him for fraud, theft and impersonating a public servant to get every penny back that he got from the public from his election campaign til now and then some.
