  • Ford Government, Year One

A new version of an old thread.

I’ve kept the thread framework – year one. I did so because, as I said in the earlier incarnation of this thread, I think it’s fair to allow a new government a chance to develop, and even a shaky start (I would argue this has been a VERY shaky start) might only be a year-one thing. A year 2, 3, or 4 thread might paint the government in a new light.

And as I said several times in the earlier thread, based on his time as city councillor, I don’t have high hopes for Ford, and I think he’s off to an appalling start, but he’s got good people around him who, I hope, will have an influence. Perhaps he will evolve as a premier, and Future-Doug might be encouraged to take a more measured approach to legislation, rather than the rash, ham-fisted handling we’ve seen so far.

Doug Ford is a Hydra. You lop off his thread and he just grows two new ones.

Well - the honeymoon period hasn't exactly gone swimmingly.

      http://abacusdata.ca/election-2015-s...ndp-well-back/

To provide a bit of added context we included popularity measures for Doug Ford (-30), Rachel Notley (-6), Bernie Sanders (+23), Hillary Clinton (+2) and Donald Trump (-71). In Alberta, Ms. Notley is 24% positive – 44 negative (-20). In Ontario Doug Ford is 24% positive – 51% negative (-27).

I think it's more useful to us than the Trump thread because although they both affect our lives, this is the one that we can change. The other one's mostly entertainment.

Today Doug took credit for the price of gas dropping in Ontario. Not sure it was all him, since prices in Quebec and across Canada dropped the same amount.

Maybe that new thread will get started after all....

I just took our air conditioners out of the windows for the fall, but I suppose I'll give Doug credit when my hydro bill plummets next month.

                You do now

McTeague says there are variations in gasoline in Canada, with a winter product that ignites effectively to allow most vehicles to start properly in colder weather.

In the warmer summer months, additives are placed in the gasoline to prevent ignition with higher temperatures.

"Those additives are quite expensive and they usually mean a four cents across-the-board increase for most Canadian drivers, starting at about the first few days of April all the way to the middle of September, at which point we then revert back to less expensive to make winter gasoline," explained McTeague.

Good to see this thread reincarnated.

OP, will you agree not to delete the thread even if you are annoyed beyond belief by posters that take a contrary view to you? If yes, that's great and appreciated! If not, there is no point in posting only to see the entire thread evaporate on a whim.

                  What say you?

Out of respect for the OP of the other thread, who I believe acted with good intentions, I don't want to get into that, except to say that while I, personally, don't have an issue with the way that was handled, it's not a route I would consider as an option. Hopefully that's the assurance you're looking for, but, to repeat, I offer the assurance without passing negative judgement on the OP of the other thread.

that is a lot of BS they are feeding us.
the difference between the seasonal gas is the addition of ethanol in the winter to prevent fuel line icing. In fact you are getting less gasoline with every fill-up since ethanol makes ups 5-15% of your tank volume. It also explains why your mileage goes down in the winter.

now they are feeding us the additional lie that summer gas is more expensive. because we get the undiluted real deal.

                      LOL downright comical.

Sure, those are some impressive "facts".

But, as you know, we live in a world where "alternative facts" have a place too.

Ford’s bill was vindicated, while the hysteric protesters, politicians and journalists screaming about democracy and the rule of law have been exposed as ignorant and partisan.
