This isn't news, but with January 6th's events will we see a change in attitude toward all things Trump?

I imagine he would have been the face of that tournament - outside the golfers, that is.

I’d be surprised. It’d take a lot (though, today might have done it) to move the largely conservative pros (at least on the Tour) away from their support of Trump.

As white & Republican as the PGA is, they must know it is toxic to hold it there & there will be protests and just too much negative press.

The next 2 weeks will give more clarity.

If a few tour players say they will not attend, that will cause the PGA of America to rethink it. Will any players make that stand? Not sure. If the PGA is smart, it will revisit the idea before it becomes a controversy. Once Trump is out of office, he becomes just another loud voice. He wont have the same bully pulpit.

The only thing that will get the PGA of America to move the tournament is the same sort of thing that got the PGA Tour and WGC to move away from Doral.

There was zero altruism in that decision. It was a decision based solely on what possible damage could be done to the PGA Tour and WGC brands by being associated with a bank that was receiving scrutiny of its business practices that could at best be described as "sketchy".

If the financial probes out of NY reveal similar financial entanglements, expect the PGA of America to consider a change of venue.

They could play it as “in light of recent events, we have decided to move this course back in the rotation. We will announce the new date in the future”

The announcement will be made on the 12th of Never.
