  • Kathleen Heddle - RIP

Her Olympic accomplishments are fresh in my memory as if they had occurred yesterday, as is her smile. Gone far too soon.

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

I saw that yesterday and was shocked. It seems like only a few years ago that she and Marnie McBean were tops in their sport, I can't believe it was 25 years ago. She was the quiet one (at least publicly) of the pair. It sounds like she had a tough go with cancer. R.I.P.

Sad.... Surprised too she was 55.... She, Marnie & Silken were the introduction to Canadian Rowing for many of us.

So sad and too young. She quietly went about her business and kicked butt doing so. RIP

I had had a passing interest in the sport previously, but they were the ones who really focused my attention on rowing. They were physically and mentally strong, while maintaining a humbleness and beauty that was irresistible.

RIP. Never a rowing fan, but she seemed like a modest devoted Canadian. Way too young. Thoughts are with her family.

That is sad news. I remember watching Kathleen and Marnie when ever I could. Fantastic pair. I believe their boat is in the Clubhouse at Redtail. RIP.

What a legend she and McBean were as a team. Two very determined women who wanted to be the best in the world and they went and did it.

A perfect pairing - Heddle painfully shy and McBean the big extrovert. It suited them perfectly.

Very sad to see her gone so soon and so young.
