Trial date set during GOP Primary....and he is warned against continuing his incendiary campaign against law enforcement and the courts.
This is not going to sit well I am sure.
Judge sets 2024 date for Trump's criminal trial in Stormy Daniels case
A New York City judge has set a trial date of March 25, 2024, for former President Donald Trump's criminal trial on charges of falsifying business records.
Trump, sitting side-by-side with his attorney Todd Blanche, his hands folded on the table, scowled into the camera when Judge Juan Merchan announced the trial date, possibly because the date conflicts with the GOP primary calendar as Trump seeks to reclaim the presidency.
MORE: Judge in Trump criminal case issues protective order to prevent sharing of evidence
Merchan has previously indicated that no one associated with the case is allowed to schedule anything that would conflict with the trial, which would seemingly including any campaign appearances that would keep Trump from appearing in court.
Any bets on whether Trump can abide by the protective order?
Fortunately there are no rules limiting the number of golf balls you can carry during a match!
Meanwhile TFG has sour grapes that the only people who have truly cashed in on his election lies is Dominion Voting Systems and he wants a piece of the action.

It certainly would be inappropriate. Also stupid for Garland to even appear to be undercutting Jack Smith.
His lawyers have met with Jack Smith. I guess they didn't like what Smith had to say.
I strongly suspect that Smith has established a clear motive for Trump taking the classified materials when he left the White House and for his numerous efforts to hang on to them at Mar-a-Lago. That is, Smith may have uncovered evidence of Trump trying to sell/distribute some/all of the material to foreign interests in return for some type of consideration.
Establishing such a motive for Trump having the documents would explain why he went to such lengths to retain them. Not even Trump would be stupid enough to risk multiple charges of obstruction simply so that he could keep 'his' documents as souvenirs of his time at the White House. Trump saw the documents as having value to someone and/or something, and he probably needed to maintain that value for as long as possible.
If Trump et al thought that he could successfully challenge any charges, he would risk going to trial because it would allow him to been seen as the victim of malicious prosecution and perhaps even vindicated by any acquittal(s). However, if Trump knows that he's been caught with the goods and that his accomplices will testify against him, then he must know that he will lose. So, his only alternative is to go over Smith's head and make it appear that he's negotiating with the person who is really in charge.
It's all for naught, though. As was said, there is no way that Garland is going to undercut Smith, especially when Smith appears to have done a thorough and competent job to this point.

Garland's response, if any, will be interesting.
I'm really not sure what Smith's expansion of the documents investigation really says.
It could mean, as you suggest, that he has clear evidence for motive, or it could also mean that it would be tough to make a case for mishandling the documents, and/or obstruction without being able to prove that his motives were more than just stupidity and vanity.
I just get a bit anxious when I see a special counsel expanding investigations... it reminds me of Ken Starr.
I also wish that there were separate people heading up the Documents and January 6th cases.
I'm still of the mind that Trump will never again see the inside of a criminal courtroom.
I am convinced that the USA does not have the stomach to indict and convict the Former, and he is doubling down on everything because so far he's been given no sign they have the courage to do it either.
In fairness, no other 1st order nation has ousted or jailed a former leader.
Even Israel lacks the chutzpah to divest itself of it own continuing saga of "L Etats c'est Moi" Bibi.
The corruption trial against Israel's Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has resumed after a month-long break. That turns the spotlight back on the long-serving leader’s legal woes after a wave of protests against his government’s plan to overhaul the country’s judiciary system. Netanyahu is on trial on charges of fraud, breach of trust and accepting bribes in three separate scandals involving powerful media moguls and wealthy associates. He denies wrongdoing. Critics say that Netanyahu is driven to weaken the courts and change the legal system as a way to open an escape route from his trial. He dismisses those claims as untrue.
We have to depend on 3rd world nations ,who still believe and apply Hammurabi's laws, to dispense justice for all. LOL
