Unfortunately, the evangelicals feel the only religion is their religion. Members of congress stating that it's not lawful to testify or proclaim an oath on anything other than a bible, How many examples would you like?
because i find it amusing that people are so quick to criticize the evangelical right in the U.S., and then have a tendency to label anybody who criticizes any other demographic of people as some sort of bigot, racist, or -phobe.

Hard to separate religion and politics when so many things involve a bible..
Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and wrong, because sometime in your life, you will have been all of these. Dr. Robert H. Goddard

The topic of this thread is about Republicans and God, which really stems from the strong connection to the evangelical right. This naturally leads into their hypocritical support of Trump given that he promised to champion their cause(s). Some people feel this gambit largely failed as even the conservative judges that he appointed didn't follow through on abortion or LBGTQ rights legislation as they hoped. Others think that they gained under Trump. Personally, I think the GOP/evangelical right alliance (or dependance) is fighting a losing battle with the changing religious demographics and attitudes towards racism and hate and that Trump's admin actually hurt them more that it helped. The attached article suggests that the GOP/Trump admin actually hurt religion in general by trying to advance the special interests of 'Christian nationalists'. So, does the GOP continue the deal with the Devil?

People of faith have suffered under the Trump administration’s attacks on civil rights, religious freedom, and health and economic well-being.

          I recall an old joke...

          Religion is like a penis
It is OK you have one
It is fine if you are proud of it
It is even alright if you tell people you have one
But the moment you try to jam it down the throat of someone else, then we have a problem

Did not say it did. That's the point. A different world view is just a different world view. could be good, could be bad. Some people like to use "I just have a different world view" as a shield.

I don't think it is quite that simple. Not being able to recognize inherent wrongs and staying true to 'your right' to hate and discriminate isn't just a different world view.

This is collectively one of the dumbest group of people on the planet without all of the actual hardships of billions of others around the world. They would spout off about their 'god given right' to bare arms and actually believe it when it's complete nonsense. Constantly re-electing people who do absolutely nothing for them (healthcare, education, stable job creation with worker rights) because they fear change and progress, but are quick to blame Muhammad, Jose or Wang for "stealing" their min wage jobs when they are highly skilled professionals back home and can't get certified here and just want a more stable life than what their home countries can provide.

If anything, they more fit in with ruthless 3rd world countries than modern societies.

I found it funny that Drumpfs main message in 2016 was that China stole all the jobs from the rustbelt states when in fact all those jobs initially moved to southern states who promised basically free land to build factories, tax incentives to move there and the promise of a non-unionized work force.
The comment that the electorate only has a short memory span really does apply to lots of Americans.
