    IMO, releasing this footage is comparable neither with a live execution nor with a snuff film, both of which are planned events.

    The purpose of releasing photos and/or video of the aftermath of a mass execution is to clearly illustrate the carnage and human costs of such events. Too often these images are suppressed, censored or sanitized so as not to offend the sensibilities of some people. Meanwhile, the general public is kept from seeing what a mass shooting really looks like, and they are coddled into equating these real-life events with shoot-outs depicted in the movies (where the good guys get shot but never die, and the bad guys are always killed by the good guys).
    I liken it to the impact that the pictures of Emmett Till had on the civil rights movement.

    When I hear those who claim to be staunch supporters of the 2nd Amendment spout garbage that posting the images will only lead to Americans becoming numb to the violence, my first thought is always BULLSH!T!.

    Of course, I'd respect the wishes of family members before making the photos public.

    • I guess Miami Arena is a gun free zone otherwise some freedom loving 2A person might have used deadly force to prevent the anthem singer from murdering Star Spangled Banner tonight at Carolina-Florida.

      (It’s a joke. Put it here to not offend anyone overly sensitive.)

        That rendition was pretty bad.

          We can only thank God that no Canadian team was in the game.

          • Gotta love these "good guys with guns".
            A man in Louisville, Kentucky, is facing an assault charge after shooting his roommate “in the ass” during a fight about eating their last Hot Pocket, officials said.

                I saw that story this morning. I was thinking about it while I was on the bike at the gym this AM.

                My thought;

                ”The Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves. I’m certain that they never envisioned that when they wrote 2A that while it may empower the people against a hostile Gov’t what it has actually done is turned the people on each other.”

                Can you imagine any of the FF’s reading that story and feeling proud of what they’d done?

                  For all but the last 15 years of American history, what the FFs wrote was not interpreted the way it is today. To the contrary, prior to DC v Heller, the courts would laugh at the suggestion that the 2nd Amendment could ever be interpreted in the way Scalia did.

                  There is also a lot of historical evidence in the Federalist Papers that the true intent of the 2nd Amendment was to provide for a militia in a young country that really didn't want to get involved with the costs of maintaining a standing army. Nothing more, nothing less.

                  The fault lies almost completely with the justices who sit on the SCOTUS and not with the FFs.
