I'm curious, would you support a shift to cashless using a bank of Canada crypto currency?

What reasons for or against do you feel should be addressed.

The problem with a central bank crypto is that it is fully traceable. It may have its benefits like catching fraudsters, etc. But its also an invasion of privacy. The RCMP, CRA and other government agencies can ask you all kinds of questions. Right now, with credit/debit cards, etransfers, etc, we are almost cashless. So the convenience rationale is a bit iffy. Control and surveillance rationale is probably what governments are aiming for.

At this point, I see no reason why I'd use it. As it is, I rarely use or carry cash.
This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

Today, I only use cash if I'm going to places like the Asian food court where credit/debit is not accepted. I see no reason to use anything else. It's not like I have a massive fortune to move around or I need to hide anything.

I haven’t used cash for 1 1/2 years now since Covid (money is very dirty and full of germs)
a lot of people only use debit like me.
get paid via auto deposit in my bank account for many years now.
I have used debit purchases for about 30 years and Covid just moved me to completely use it, or credit card.
          this is already digital currency.

Digital currencies are not the same as doing business online. They are like bitcoin with the history of every transaction made recorded for eternity.

It's a must to catch tax evaders and the country is full of them

Agree. Anything I buy I want to collect points so credit card for virtually all purchases personally and corporately (where possible).

My dealer only accepts cash, so there's that.

Mostly used credit/debit/etransfer. (earn points/cash back)

I only used cash for "under the table" activities"
