  • Sidney Poitier - RIP

A great actor and an accomplished human being.

"What do they call a boy like you back there in Philadelphia?"
    "They call me MISTER Tibbs!!!"

    Classic.

Perhaps a societal changing line. Directed I believe by the Canadian (from The Beaches) Norman Jewison.

Agree 100% with what others have posted, Poitier exemplified 'class'.

Looks like he retired from acting in 2001, 1947 to 2001 is a pretty long career.

Did his iconic line of "They call me Mister Tibbs!!" translate well?
