      Poitier's flat line delivery and flint eye stare set the bar for black actors ,and IMHO, only Jamie Foxx and Denzel Washington share its intensity.

        And then there is "Uptown Saturday Night" from 1974 which
        Poitier directed (1 of 9 he directed) and starred along with Cosby and Belafonte.

        If I recall correctly, audiences loved it and lined up around the block to see it. (Well, we did, anyway.)

        A fine person, deserving of our warmest praise. Humble in his success.

        From the BBC's obituary:

        "If I'm remembered for having done a few good things," he once said, "and if my presence here has sparked some good energies, that's plenty."
