Yep. Dump Zaitsev and bring in a top 4. Then start with the RFA signings.

Not sure if I’d agree that the terms are “very good”. Its not a bad contract, but its also not a great one.

Both sides are happy with it and about where it should be. You could argue it is $500K too high but that's splitting hairs. He fits the Sens needs in terms of point production, leadership, experience, elite faceoff guy, good in both ends and performs in the playoffs.

65 pts in 75 games and 23 pts in 18 playoff games last year. I think at that scoring pace with the intangibles it is very competitive. For $6.5M I think it's a good contract in terms of $ and term considering he was a FA

Giroux is 34 and with over 1,000 games played.

However adding a respected veteran who can still play should help the Sens.
Coupled with the addition of Debrincat who is young and already has two 40+ goal seasons the Sens offense should be greatly improved.

One can certainly argue that the Sens have markedly improved since the end of last season.
The Canadiens have added considerable 'assets'.

On the other hand it can be argued that the Leafs have to a degree 'gone backwards'.

I don't think there is much argument there.

In other news, Giroux signs a 3x$6.5 with the Sens

That's a pretty awesome top 6 and they will have 2 potent power play lines

              The summer of Pierre continues.

Brown to the caps for a 2nd round pick in 2024. Id have thought they could get more. Great player but wants to test free agency and no room for him on the top 2 lines.

Awkward Pierre was working for Sportsnet thru the draft and free agency.

Without a doubt it will be in the next 2-3 years... Batherson and Norris took some serious strides last season, but I think Jimmy needs to realize some of his growth potential before I can agree with that statement.

I am also interested to see what Debrincat's game looks like when he isn't playing with one of the best playmaking wingers of the last 20 years.

So do the 'rebuilding' (read tanking) Hawks move Kane and Toews. And just what would the return be for Kane.

As per Sean McIndoe regarding the Hawks acquiring Mrazek: "never underestimate the value of bad goaltending for a team that is tanking'.

Last year of their deals so smart if they do. Toews could be a good 3rd line centre at deadline time. Kane would be good to anyone.
