Sam Pollock's rule is that the team that gets the best player wins the trade. So based on that you can say that Florida 'probably' won?
And both Huberdeau and Weegar are only signed for one year and may pull a Gaudreau and 'leave'.
So Treliving either has to get them signed or move them before he loses them for nothing.

But if he can sign them or get a similar return for either, give him credit.
That's the thing before we can say who "won" the trade. If they re sign the guys they got, or they're able to get a big return for one or both, it is too early to tell. They traded one guy in the last year before becoming a UFA for two guys in the same boat.

The Turtle will turtle even more, he will not have Milan Lucic covering his back.

Tkachuk is a chit disturber. He will add a lot to the Panthers. (I am a 25+3 yr Calgary season ticket holder). The Flames took on risk in return for a sign and trade. Risk being we can’t sign the guys, but we do have deadline trade bait.

Flames should have known a year ago Goudreau wasn’t going to sign…he was going for free agency. Unlike Goudreau, I give credit for Chucky being up front a year in advance. Goudreau won’t win anyone a Cup. Chucky might be that spark.

Not sure where the Flames go this year. Maybe a round or two if lucky and Tre can pull some more rabbits out. But I play golf with the Dad of a Avs Cup winner, so I will support the Flames and be watching Colorado with deep interest.

IMO an overpay, but necessary for the Flames to lock him up. Now the trade looks good.
