  • Inbee Park is the Player of the Decade

    https://www.lpga.com/news/2020-inbee...-of-the-decade
With 53% of the fan vote received, No. 1 Inbee Park was selected as the LPGA Player of the Decade. Nearly 12,000 votes were cast over the LPGA’s social platforms to lift the LPGA Tour Hall of Famer ahead of No. 14 Brooke Henderson, who had been buoyed to three upsets by overwhelming support from her fan base at home in Canada.

In the LPGA Player of the Decade bracket, Park advanced from the Kathy Whitworth bracket, where she faced No. 16 Michelle Wie in the Round of 16. She advanced past Wie with 85% of fan votes to face No. 8 Sung Hyun Park in the quarter final. Inbee Park was once again selected by the fans, receiving 50.33% of the vote, and she faced No. 4 Lydia Ko in the LPGA Player of the Decade Final Foursome. Park advanced past Ko with 54% of the vote to face Henderson in the final matchup.

Park earned the No. 1 seed based on her staggering accomplishments on the LPGA Tour between 2010 and 2019. During that time, Park won 18 times, including six major championships, and won the Rolex Player of the Year, Rolex Annika Major Award, Vare Trophy and three-times topped the Money List. Park also made history in 2016, becoming the youngest to qualify for the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame at the age of 27, and won the Olympic gold medal at the Summer games in Rio that same year.

              • Although her stats say otherwise, but Brooke demonstrated again today that her putting can be a bit suspect....I imagine this Ping Fetch (fugly) putter will be kicked to the curb soon.

                • Brooke had it up to 10 under and bogied the last hole for a fine round and at present, a share of the lead

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

                    • Brooke should get some Network TV coverage on NBC tomorrow.

Tied for the lead is a perfectly acceptable place to be going into the weekend.

Better watch out for Inbee though. She is keen to defend her Olympic gold, but is in 6th place in the Korean Olympic standings.

                      Brooke's second shot (3 wood) on the 525-yard par-5 17th:
                      https://twitter.com/cbcsports/status...72143626178560
That was 200 yards to the front of the green, 230 to the flagstick.

                      UPDATE:

Brooke is paired with Inbee and Chad Pfiefer tomorrow in the final group at 11:30am.

WOW!!!! That is a great shot. No wonder she's leading (with that wonky putter).

I too think Inbee could be a real factor this year. She's loaded with talent and seems to have found some reasons to compete again. Look. Out.

                        • I was so shocked in Inbee's pre-tournament presser that she said she wants to play on the Olympic team.....Team Korea is really quite deep.
I've always though of Inbee the last few years as a part-timer and really thought she'd retire.

Inbee's short game really keeps her competitive.....Inbee is not long off the tee (a disadvantage).....but Inbee keeps plucking away....other short hitters likely Lydia and In Gee are now basically wash-outs on a more competitive LPGA tour nowadays.

IMO...Inbee's secret weapon is she is not a mental midget...she's an ICE QUEEN.
In 2012...I saw Inbee 3 putt...I was on the ropes...Inbee was only 7 ft away...there was not 1 ounce of anger in her...remarkable.

                          • Anyone else surprised Ping gave up their real estate on Brooke's cap/visor?....I have yet to see her bag...is there a Ping logo on her bag?
The Ping website still lists Brooke as a Tour pro/ambassador.
IMO...except for Aza add In Gee...I'd dump all the other LPGA pros.

So is IMG shilling Parson's for an equipment contract for Brooke when Bob's dumps Lydia where her PXG contract expires?

                            • This pro-am event is near impossible to watch...thankfully there's FF.
I hope they don't shorten 18 on Sunday....and put the pin short and left on Sunday.

Included is proof that Brooke can putt at least sometimes. It is also interesting to see how far away from the hole Inbee was for her 3rd shot on the 17th, vs where Brooke's ball was for her 3rd shot (which was a four inch putt).

                                Brooke's driving this week: 260 and 245 (average 252)
                                Inbee's driving this week: 221 and 228 (average 224)

                                Brooke's putts this week: 26 and 27
                                Inbee's putts this week: 25 and 27

                                Brooke's bogeys this week: 2 and 1 (total 3)
                                Inbee's bogeys this week: 0 and 0 (total 0)
