  • 2019 LPGA Priority List

The 2019 LPGA Priority List has appeared on the LPGA website

    Link to PDF: http://www.lpga.com/-/media/files/pr...ocs_010719.pdf
(If this link stops working, the main link is in the "players" menu on http://www.lpga.com/)

    Canadians:

Category 1 (Top 80 previous year)

    4. Brooke Henderson

    [Category 2 (Career Top 20)]
[Categories 3,4,5,6,7 (Various LPGA Winner Categories)]

[Category 8 (Current Year Top 80 after reshuffle)]
[Category 9 (Top 10 Symetra Tour)]
    [Category 10 (Non-Member Top 40 previous year)]

Category 11. (No. 81-100 previous year)

    113. Brittany Marchand
    115. Alena Sharp

    [Category 12 (Career Top 40)]
    [Category 13 (Current Year Reshuffle)]

    Category 14. Top 45 Q-Series

    131. Jaclyn Lee
    133. Anne-Catherine Tanguay

Category 15. Nos 101-125 previous year

    182. Maude-Aimee Leblanc

    Category 16. Tournament Winners

    210. Lorie Kane

[Category 17 (Winners more than 20 years ago)]
[Category 18 (Nos. 126-150 previous year)]
[Category 19 (Class A/Veteran Members for 10 or more consecutive years)]

    - - - - -

Also, four players (Karrie Webb, Paula Creamer, Yani Tseng and Catriona Matthew) are using one of their Career Top 20 (Category 2) two-time exemptions. Candie Kung is using her one-time Career Top 40 exemption (Category 12). Note that if you take a top 40 exemption, you can never take a top 20 one, and vice-versa.

Category 14 (Q-Series) comprises Nos. 125-175 on the priority list, so most field cutoffs are going to fall somewhere in that group.

Reshuffle Categories are Category 8 (Current Year Top 80) and Category 13 (Current Year Reshuffle).

The primary change from last year's priority list is that the Q-Series graduates have been combined into one category.

Previously, the top 20 from Q-School would be placed in Category 12, where they would not get reshuffled. The rest of the Q-School grads would be placed in Category 17, behind the Nos. 101-125 from the previous year money list.

Now all of the Q-School grads are ahead of the Nos. 101-125 players (unfortunately for Maude-Aimee) but are also all subject to reshuffle.

It also appears that the "Three Symetra Tour Wins in the Current Year" category is gone. It was hardly ever used since, by the time someone won three times on Symetra, the LPGA season (or at least the part that uses the priority list) would be almost over.

The LPGA has also updated its media reference page with 2019 files

Here is the list of 2019 Rookies:

        9. Top-10 LPGA Symetra Tour:

Top 10 (and ties) on the previous year’s season-ending Symetra Tour Money List. Priority is based on their position on the list. Ties will be broken by the members’ scoring average as of the end of the previous year. If still tied, refer to the 2018 Symetra Tournament and Player Regulations.

        94. Ruixin Liu
        97. Elizabeth Szokol
        98. Linnea Strom
        102. Charlotte Thomas
        103. Isi Gabsa

        14. Top 45 Q-Series:

Players finishing Nos. 1-45 and ties at the previous year’s LPGA Q-Series. Ties will be broken in the following order: lowest final round, lowest 7th round; lowest 6th round; lowest 5th round; etc. until the tie is broken. If players remain tied, ties will be broken by a match of score cards beginning with the 18th hole of the final round and working backwards.

        125. Jeongeun Lee6
        126. Jennifer Kupcho (a)
        128. Sarah Schmelzel

The fields have been released for the Vic Open, Australian Women's Open. The priority list cutoff is in the Q-Series Top 45 category for both.

Brooke, Brittany and Alena are playing in both. Jaclyn and Anne-Catherine are in the field for the Vic Open but are 2nd and 4th alternate for the Australian Women's Open

          Vic Open (79 LPGA players)
          http://www.lpga.com/tournaments/isps...en/final-field
Top 13 from Q-Series grads got in (Jaclyn #7 and Anne-Catherine #9 are in)

Note that the Vic Open is a multi-tour event, including players from the LPGA, ALPG, European Tour and PGA of Australasia with a $3 million purse ($1.5 million for the men and $1.5 million for the women). It's also Jaclyn Lee's first pro event.

Australian Women's Open (100 LPGA players)
          http://www.lpga.com/tournaments/isps...en/final-field
Top 5 from Q-Series grads got in. (Jaclyn is 2nd alternate and Anne-Catherine is 4th alternate)

NOTE: The AWO is holding spots for the winners of the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions and the Vic Open. Those will probably go to someone already in the field, freeing up two spots which would be enough to bring Jaclyn into the tournament.

The Honda LPGA Thailand field is out as well, but the the cutoff for entry into that one is #63 from the Category 1 Top 80, so it will be just Brooke for that one.
          http://www.lpga.com/tournaments/hond...nd/final-field

The HSBC Women's World Championship is also a very limited field with #57 being the cutoff.

I’m a little confused. In Catagory 11 you have Brittany and Alena but the numbers on the left show outside 81-100. Am I misreading this?
            thanks

The 81-100 refers to their position on the money list last year, putting them in Category 11 (I just edited the post to reflect that). The numbers beside their names is their position on this year's priority list.

It may help to look at the original PDF: http://www.lpga.com/-/media/files/pr...ocs_010719.pdf

You know the Pink Diva is a wash-out when she needs to travel so far to play the Vic Open.
Is there any word that Lucky 6 will play the LPGA F/T...she's only playing in Singapore and I assume as an invite.

Glad to see Belen Mozo back...but I suspect she will struggle again.

She is playing Singapore through her spot in the Top 20 Rolex (she is #19).
