  • Jeff Maggert.........what a shot!

Was that arguably the greatest shot in golf? Has this happened before?

Happened in an LPGA playoff a couple seasons ago and seem to remember it happening in the PGA tour a couple times, i believe once in the last couple years and once 10 plus years ago.....dare I say a fellow named Damron ? Forget his name.

anyways, Goosen was poised to take the event and Cup , what a shot and change of events with Maggert's hole out. Happy for him....not a Goosen or McCarron fan so indifferent on that result....was pulling for Kelly

Jeff Maggert is only remembered for hitting himself with the ball while in the fairway bunker thereby losing the lead at the final round of the 2003 Masters (as everyone remembers, it was won by our own Mikey Weir). I'm sure he would gladly trade his good luck today with the incredible bad luck at the Masters.

I watched the last few holes of the Champions event and the playoff holes.

Goosen will surely be kicking himself for missing that very short putt for the win.

That was just a great finish with Goosen hitting that wedge in tight from the fairway bunker, then Maggert getting that hole-out. Very fun to watch !

Jack Renner had the same thing happen to him in the 1983 Sony Open when Isao Aoki sank a similar shot from the rough to win the tournament- I think Renner came back and won the same event the following year

It was pretty awesome, Retief must be somewhat gutted - He was in position a few times to win this...

From Jeff's birdie putt in regulation on the 18 to force the playoff (a length he was struggling with all day), to Goosen's missed putt on the first playoff hole that seemed like a sure thing, to his shot from the bunker to within easy birdie reach to win the second playoff hole...

              Here's Maggert's perfect shot from 123 yards.

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

In 2010 Jonathan Byrd won a 3 man playoff in Las Vegas with a walk off hole in one on the 4th playoff hole. It was so dark that he didn't see it go in. The playoff was with Martin Laird and Cameron Percy. Byrd had the honour and jugged it. The other 2 combatants each had a shot for glory after the ace and both rinsed their ball. Another walk off was Craig Parry at Doral in 2004. This came after Johnny Miller had said that Parry's swing would make Ben Hogan puke. Parry defeated Verplank and guess who came third? Retief Goosen!!
