  • Mike "Fluff" Cowan Still Doing It!

Just heard today that Fluff is 73 years old and still slugging a bag around the course.

    That's impressive.

Phew, my heart sank for a second when I saw the title, thinking this thread was going in a different direction.

    When I'm 73 I hope I can still lift a golf club.

Watching the Sr. Open yesterday I saw him and Jim Furyk, and wondered how long Fluff's been doing that and how old he was. He was a seasoned vet 25 years ago when he carried Tiger's bag.

18 years looping for Peter Jacobsen -2 for Tiger and 22 for Furyk - didn't realize he was an assistant pro at a golf club and that his how he got into looping

His first win was in 1980 with Jacobsen.

Sorry, I edited the title so it wouldn't alarm anyone else.

Compared to his early days with Tiger, Fluff has lost a lot of weight.

But since he is still looping, I expect him min good health.

Never mind at 73, I doubt I could loop an 80 lbs bag 5 days in a week, never mind for 40+ years even in my 20's.

Fluff yesteraday with some random dude:

And looping at times in heat and humidity.
                  The guy is a machine.
A member at Congressional....not bad for a guy who cleans clubs, fixes divots and rakes bunkers.

He may not be the best caddie(although in the top 5 or 10), but he certainly has the best 'stache.

I saw him catch up to Furyk at the Senior Open. He looked like he was labouring big time. He sure must enjoy it. It just didn't look like it.
