Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley said the club is assessing damage at the iconic course after the area was hit hard by Hurricane Helene on Friday morning.

Haven't heard anything about specific damage to Augusta National, although the town of Augusta got hit hard so I wouldn't be surprised if the course had some damage.

Fortunately there are no rules limiting the number of golf balls you can carry during a match!

Given the loss of life, loss of homes and businesses throughout the south east, I have to say I could care less about what might have happened to that golf course or any other golf course. And this from a guy that absolutely loves the Masters! The members are among the richest people on the planet. I'm sure any damage will be completely repaired by April.

Now, here's hoping the rest of the victims of this catastrophic event can rebuild their homes and businesses as quickly.

              Same.

I too love the Masters, but there's a whole lot of people that have suffered huge losses and tragedies from this storm, and that's the real problem. It would certainly be a shame if ANGC was destroyed but..... it's just a golf course and can be rebuilt.

I think people who have made observations about ANGC were doing it with a bit sarcasm given they know how rich the club is rather than truly lamenting it.

Even their chairman man Fred Ridley's statement recognized that it would be bad PR if they talk about themselves:

“Our Augusta community has suffered catastrophic and historic impact from Hurricane Helene. We currently are assessing the effects at Augusta National Golf Club.

In the meantime, our focus and efforts are foremost with our staff, neighbors and business owners in Augusta. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as well as everyone throughout Georgia and the Southeast who have been affected.”

                  — Chairman Fred Ridley

I read today that 600 people are still missing / unaccounted for there....a bit more important than a few Magnolia trees downed

Fred Ridley is a class guy, as is the club to the community.
