    Job Title: Head Greens Superintendent Full Time

    Purpose: To manage and supervise all outside maintenance and operations of the golf course property.

    Education: Post-secondary education in Golf Course or Turf Management I.P.M. accredited 5+ years of turf experience

    Minimum Requirements:
    Managerial experience
    Golf Course construction and maintenance experience
    Mechanical aptitude to service and maintain golf course machinery and equipment
    Operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of a fully automated irrigation system
    Good communication skills
    Knowledge of applicable federal, provincial and local legislation
    Basic computer skills, specifically related to documentation and spreadsheet
    Understanding of Landscape and Gardeners classification labour laws
    Valid drivers license

    General Responsibilities:
    Manage and supervise Greens Department employees and work related to outside maintenance of the golf course and general outside club house maintenance
    Implement and maintain turf grass/plant material programs
    Ensure on course maintenance and construction projects are completed on time
    Certify proper use, care and maintenance of equipment and report any deficiencies to the Greens Committee. Maintain greens inventory documentation as required.
    Conduct daily inspection of greens, tees, sand traps, fairways, trees, benches, signs, cart paths, bridges and infrastructure to ensure professional appearance is maintained at all times. Repair and maintain as required.
    Prepare the Greens budget and ensure operations are within the approved budget for the fiscal year.
    Responsible for contacting contractors, equipment dealers and suppliers regarding equipment, capital purchases and supplies.
    Maintain, promote and enforce health and safety practices in the workplace
    Recruits, supervises, trains, monitors, evaluates, motivates and retains maintenance personnel.
    Keep accurate and precise recording of water usage in accordance with applicable permits and regulations
    Understand and follow all permits required in the outside operation of the golf course
    Performs snow removal and winter maintenance activities when necessary.
    Attend meetings and report to the Greens Committee and Board of Directors as required
    Keep a good working relationship with the Manager and promote the golf course to all members and guests in a professional manner
    Carry out any other duties assigned by the Board of Directors

    Effort and skill: This position requires a strong physical condition to operate equipment and perform on course duties. An expert understanding of daily golf course operations and solid supervisory and administrative skills are required. Budgets, setting priorities and interpersonal skills are also important aspects of this job.

    Working Conditions: Work week is generally spent outside Ability to work variable hours Ability to work in some adverse conditions, example: cold, high humidity, very hot, wet, rainy, foggy, etc.

    Weekends will be part of the work week from time to time

    This position falls under the classifications of Landscape Gardeners and therefore are not covered by daily and weekly limits of work and they are not entitled to public holiday pay
