  • First Fitting

Just discovered this forum today and have spent the last few hours reading different topics and stories. Excellent stuff.

This is my 4th season playing. Last summer I played about 35-40 rounds and will do about the same this year. I've got myself down to an unofficial 13 handicap. I'm usually in the 83-87 range. I'm starting to seriously consider getting fitted for a full set. I have a good idea of how much the fittings would cost but I'm more concerned about the cost of clubs. I'm guessing the cost of shafts will be a big factor but any information is welcome.

    Thanks,

Ultimately, it's your budget, so you can steer the fitting in any direction you'd like. If you find an aftermarket shaft performs that much better than a stock option, then you'd have to take that into consideration I suppose. I was fortunate to get fit into a Mizuno MP-18 SC/MMC combo iron set as Mizuno offers a variety of shaft options without an up-charge. I'm not sure what other manufacturers offer, but it might be something to think about.

To give you a concrete example, I ended up ordering 11 clubs (4-pw, 50, 55, 60, putter) and the total cost with fitting fee and tax was just under $3000. The wedges are Ping Glide 2.0 and the putter is a Bobby Grace Fatman. Also included in that total were new grips for my driver, 3-wood, and 5-wood.

Yes shafts and the driver are probably the biggest factos but a professionally built and fit set does not have to be associated with outrageous costs.

Being fit will be the factor that helps bring down your score even if it is a retrofit to your existing set.

True Length Technology is a fitting system I developed a number of years ago that is now used by many professional fitters and builders. It is math based and will promote a constant athletic address position for every club resulting in a very repeatable swing plane and pure contact. Other fitting methods build the club's then try to correct the errors after the fact. TLT will promote a very repeatable and consistent ball flight all without having to adjust your address.

Appointments are required but in the meantime take a look at my site for a better understanding of what a True Length Technology fitting will do for you and your game.

True Length Technology is was awarded the Best new fitting idea by the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals in Georgia. The AGCP is a successful group of professional clubfitters devoted to improved fitting and building advanced level golf club's.
