  • King's Forest - not so good

Played KF yesterday and it is really rough around the edges.

Doing a lot of construction to creek bed on #3 (temp green - par 3) and pond on #4. Backhoes, diggers, tractors.

Also, a lot of the work done last year is still shabby looking. i.e. where the creek bed was filled in on 13/14.

Needless to say, no break on price.

IMO not worth the drive right now if you are from out of town.

I played on Friday afternoon and had a great time. For $40 you can't beat the value. Although next time I'm riding

Except for some work on #3, it's all good, and otherwise in great shape!

Good, its a shame when they let this course go.

I was a member there for over 20 yrs ( Started on day 2)so I've seen it in all different conditions.

I don't think to say they let the course go is completely fair...the moving of the creek was because of the Red Hill Expressway, and personally I like the changes that happened. Also the City of Hamilton told them they had to be off City water so the latest reno around holes 3 & 4 is due to putting in retention ponds to be used to water the course.

Are the conditions great...not even close, but for a muni course and given the resources they are limited by it is a very nice course and a very nice value.

Personally, I think King's Forest is just that....a Forest, with a bunch of mowed grass and pins stuck in a hole to make it look like a golf course.

The "They" I am referring to is the City of Hamilton. They own/run the course.
