  • Help with info on Private Clubs

    Hi TGNR’s as I said in another post I am debating on resigning with Club Link for Station Creek, upgrading to a higher level course or canceling all together and joining a real private club. The membership would be for 2 people me and the Mrs.

    I was wondering if any of you have info in terms of pricing and experience for the following clubs

    Cedar Brae
    Weston Golf Club
    Sleepy Hollow
    Bayview
    The Mandarin Golf & Country Club
    Donalda Club
    Thornhill Golf & Country Club
    Scarboro Golf and Country Club
    Markland Wood
    Summit

    Thanks Chris

    Not a member and have no idea what the actual fees are, but Sleepy Hollow is a very nice club. I've played several tournaments there and have been back for other rounds, and I've had nothing but great experiences there. The course is usually in great condition, and the staff are just wonderful, from the head pro down to the bev cart attendants. They are having a promotion right now for trial memberships as well.

        Summit is a great track and very reasonably priced.
        My game is rubbish with shades of brilliance.

          That is a great list of clubs, I would give Donalda a serious look. A great clubhouse atmosphere, awesome course, great location and kinda anti CL feel to it.

            Any idea about costs/dues? I know it will be a lot higher then the courses out of the T.O but living at yonge and York Mills it's really close.

              There is a very wide range of cost of initiation in the clubs you listed!

              Based on the ones I've inquired about in the past year (underlined):
              -from <$10K at the low end (Cedar Brae and Sleepy Hollow)
              -to the $50K range (Bayview)
              -all the way up to the $75K range (Donalda)

                Yes figured that but a lot of them did not list any type of price. I think my range would be 15k-20k each and 4k-5k annuals. With that said location is also a factor and Donalda and Bayview offer more then just golf

                  Re: Help with info on Private Clubs

                  Donalda does have a new member program that is quite reasonable but it does have some limitations. With Donalda your Mrs. will also really enjoy all the aspects that the club offers. It is pricey though but minus some of the pretentions that other clubs in that price range have.

                    Re: Help with info on Private Clubs

                    You need a sponser to become a member of Donalda. Then the board reviews your application and either accepts or rejects it.
                    I was just reading up on it.
                    I am happy at Wyndance but I while fishing around I came across York Downs, it looks sweet!

                          Suggest you pick up the phone and call the private clubs on your list. Members of this board do their very best to be helpful but the pricing structure at all clubs in these economic times is so fluid that it changes week by week.

                            Re: Help with info on Private Clubs

                            I have received some information back from some of the courses, since I asked an no one really had upto date info I thought I would list the pricing here if anyone else is looking.

                            As the Mrs. and I are both under 35yrs I did not list the annual as we got reduced rates due to age. However 35yrs+ the annuals were between $4,500-$5,200.

                            I also listed the Trial memberships

                            Weston Golf Club
                            Entrance Fee = $45,000 (spouse entrance fee is 50% = $22,500) 7 year interest free terms available
                            F&B = $420 per 6 months
                            Trial Membership = $5,165 + $1,000 deposit (includes F&B)

                            Bayview Country Club
                            Entrance Fee - $65,000 for family – 10 year interest fee term available
                            Annual Dues = $2517 & $1066 Spouse (current promo of 50% off)
                            Club Fees including F&B = $1910
                            Trial = Annuals $8944 (includes club cost, F&B & $2,000 deposit)

                            Sleepy Hollow
                            Entrance Fee - $7500 per couple
                            F&B =?
                            Trial Membership #1 = deferred initiation for one season with payment of the annual dues.
                            Trail #2 - $2,000 (couple) towards the initiation fee and annuals and stay as a member for 3 years. If you decide to resign after the 3 years the club will refund $1,000.

                            Markland Golf
                            Entrance Fee = $33,000 interest free terms available
                            F&B = $250 per quarter
                            Trial Membership = $4650 includes F&B no commitment to entrance,

                            Mandarin
                            Entrance Fee = $10,000 per couple – 10 years interest free
                            Annuals = $6850 per couple
                            F&B = $225 per couple/month April-Nov
                            Trial = No

                            Coppin Wood
                            Entrance Fee = $29,000
                            Annuals =$6,300
                            F&B = $600

                            Summit - Info on website, the terms they offered us due to age is a steal so I am leaning towards Summit.

                              I emailed cedar brae around this time last year and they sent me their pricing brochure.
                              The fee structure was something like this:
                              10k initiation
                              ~4k dues
                              1k food and beverage

                              Intermediate (30-34) was only 1200 initiation (i don`t get this) and a slight discount on annuals and F&B.
