Played there a couple weeks and the condition, as always is fantastic, service is exceptional, definitely a must play course. I would bank on more than 2 hrs especially of you are planning on taking Hwy 26 thru Wasaga and Collingwood. I would plan on 2.5hrs give or take depending on time of day.

Course is tough but fair with tricky greens so bring your A putting game and when in doubt just aim for the middle of the greens. Nothing too tricky here but guarantee you will enjoy the day

I played there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and even though it poured rain for hours before we went out I had a great time, standing water and a lack of roll on the fairways be damned! Haha. It's a beautiful course in great condition that is lots of fun to play. What more can you ask for?

I may be a bit biased toward the course though because I shot my best ever score there (87) and holed out my 160 yard approach shot on 10.

As others have mentioned, the greens are amazing. Even waterlogged, they were among the fastest I'd ever played.

Played there Monday (July 12). Course is in great shape. There is construction on Highway 26 west of Thornbury which casued us quite a delay. I suggest you avoid that route or give yourself and extra 1/2 hour.

I am not a fan. If you can get on Oslerbrook, it is a far superior course.

played on Saturday- exactly a one hour drive from Collingwood. Arrived there and was greeted by friendly staff at the bag drop, got a real nice bag tag to add to the collection and was directed to pro shop where staff was again realf friendly. One of our group was a marshall at a different course and started talking to staff- showed how all carts can be tracked on location on course and pace of play, If slowness is observed you are sent a message on your gps to hurry up, plus they have a marshall on the course (we saw him twice).

Was then directed to nice range (complimentary) with practice bunker and putting green. From there starter was super friendly, and one of the best introductions to the course as none of us had played there before- even got a free apple (the area is known for appleorchards) and bottled water which was nice.

Alot of the course plays uphill with elevated greens, so in general you play an extra club, that and the greens always break towards Georgian Bay will save a lot of strokes.

The condition of the course is fantastic especially the greens. Water comes into play on 3-4 holes otherwise the course is pretty trouble free except for some of the bunkers.

Aesthically a very pleasing course except for half built houses everywhere and they're obviously having a tough time selling them and frankly the whole golf real estate thing is getting annoying as this course would be way better off without the residential component.

Favorite hole is 17- the Lighthouse, trickiest hole the Gulch- go drive up it if you havent played it before- even with GPS, doesnt help you enough.

All in all and excellent day and worth every penny of the $85 green fee- not sure about paying $140 prime rate though.

I might attach a few photos later.

Just played and stayed at Cobble this past weekend. Can't say I've had a much better time anywhere else. Great group of guys, super course, tasty food and a few cool ones adds to the experience. Bought one of the best yardage guides I've seen. Helped on the course and I'm sure I'll look it over later and remember a fun weekend. We'll be back next year no doubt.

I played there this past weekend and have to say it is the worst "premium" course that I have played.

Glad to see, at least based on this thread, that it wasn't just me having a bad day and that others see it in the same light.

                      Huh??

9 posts before yours and only one negative post from someone who believes a private course with a $25k initiation and $5k annual dues is a superior.

Sorry. You must be the guy I nailed with my 3 wood on 13. Next time you decide to go ball hawking for 20 min. Park your cart on the the hill so we know you're down there......... or buy a sleave or 2 you cheap .....

I also played on Saturday and there was a stiff wind blowing directly into the Georgian Bay which made the round even more fun to play. I love how they space their tee times 12 minutes apart - you don't see that in the public courses too often. If there is a better course in the Bruce/Grey area please tell me so I can play it.

If you are coming from Newmarket my suggestion would be to come across 9 and then head up 10 to Owen Sound. Avoid 26 altogether. Having gone the opposite direction a number of times you are better off.
