Re: Want Some Help With Your Over The Top Move?

Thanks for this rgk! I needed a different mental trigger for my downswing as I've gone astray from tucking in my right elbow and hitting consistent draws before into a wild cut out-in downswing. I tried the move on the video and it feels good for me. I'll need to incorporate this on my swing, my hope went up after this tip (at the verge of quitting the last months of 2013 season). Thanks a lot! Will keep you posted if it did worked for me

Ignore the trolls, he probably hits 200++ yards 7 iron? 300++ driver? In the end, WHO CARES? ignore trolls

As the video tip comes from a Long Drive competitor I suspect it will translate to the driver just fine.

Will do, but I don have the TM set with the three iron yet. Hopefully they should arrive by tomorrow.

Yes, very similar except in Monte's video the right arm is on a slightly more upright plane.

I'm a big Monte Fan.. Here is his blog. He's been a huge poster on golfwrx.com for a long time.

                  He just posted on tempo...

Here is a good one along the OP's over the top move...

The concept is this simple. Your spine is inclined. In relation to the ground, the arms must lift in the backswing and drop in the downswing. So using the spine inclination as “level,” …

On a good day I hit my 6 iron around 188-190 and I hit my driver over 50 yards further than you.. Something doesn't add up. Unless you're hitting your 6i off a cliff in Arizona, or a juiced up GT sim.

                    Last time I checked, 188-190 minus 180 equals 8-10. Not 50+.

After hitting four low, bladed bullets, as it feels very awkward at first, BOOM, my distance improved to 174-181 yds. with a lovely 18* launch angle and only 4 yards of variance from left-to-right. Darn nice for a 66 year old!

Great tip, and great results. I too have been working on that move with beneficial results. The only thing that I would add, is that you've got to let the wrists do their work by trusting them to release. I have had a habit of steering the club through the strike zone. That's a death move, if your looking for more distance and a better trajectory. Allowing the club to release, on the other hand, combined with coming in from a shallower angle as you suggest, improves both distance and trajectory. As a 65 year old guy, I love that, though, I am no where near you in distance! On the caginess scale, though, we should be close.
