    Hello from a Lady in Mississauga!

    Hey guys!

    I'm 23 year old from Mississauga. I've enjoyed watching golf for a few years and decided I'd finally take a stab at it. I'm a complete newbie (as in never played a game, been to the driving range twice and just started taking lessons). Needless to say this forum has been a great resource. I'm taking lessons at Braeben but, naturally I really do suck at this stage. It's more challenging than I thought (Tiger sure does make it look easy eh? ) but it makes me more committed to stick with it.

    Nobody in my circle is mildly interested in golf so I intend to frequent the forums quite a bit and I'm looking forward to learning from and getting to know other golf nuts! Thanks..

    Welcome to the board. I don't know what to say. I usually pick apart peoples first post and make a joke about something they written just to get them off to a light hearted start. But not knowing much about you I'll have to lay back a little (you gave me way too much ammunition), so as to not offend you. But here goes.
    Taking lessons is a good start. Let's hope your instructor tells you not to take a "stab at it" and just tells you to put a smooth swing on it.
    There are more than a few ladies here that play and will most like extend a hand to you to play. Just don't use the word stab as you may scare them off.

      Are you taking lessons with Doug Lawrie? I used to work with Doug about 10 years in his first year in the CPGA. Welcome aboard!!

          Hey Sarafina, welcome to the Nut Bunch!! You're one of the few "first posters" who have stumped Mule56 so you're off to a great start!!

          You'll find a great group of people here. Stick with the lessons and get to the range to practice what your instructor is giving you and you'll do just fine.

            Welcome Sarafina... glad to here that you are taking lessons. When you are done throw what you have learned my way.

                        Welcome! I live across Braeben on Boyer. I almost took lessons there, but went differently in the end. Keep at it, you're off to a good start. I started this year too so good luck.
                        They call it golf because all other four letter words were taken.

                            Hogan, I'm taking a beginners clinic with instructor Will Dempster at Braeben. No worries Mule, I'll leave the word 'stab' out of my vocabulary while conversing with the other ladies ...

                              Welcome Sarafina.

                              Just a word of encouragement. My wife took up golf 2 years ago, this would be her 3rd summer. At first it was just so we could spend more time together as a couple.

                              But now, after a few lessons, some patience in learning the basics and some experience on the course she is now enjoying golf to the point that she plays without me and is looking for chances to try new courses.

                              I would say she officially has the "bug", the golf bug that is and she loves it.

                              Keep it up, it is a wonderful obession !
