This cake up on the Tour Talk thread...

After DA Points was disqualified for a breach of Rule 14-3, they ruled he was still eligible to continue in The Pro-Am.

Should not his side have been DQ'd from the Pro-Am as well ?

When your T-125 in the team event and only the top 25 play on, likely the reason... That and who he's playing with.

I think 6hr pro am's should be against the rules. This is a PGA sanctioned event, everyone should get disqualified for time...

It's a different Competition. He can't be DQd from one he is not actually playing in.
Putting isn't golf, greens should be treated almost the same as water hazards: you land on them, then add two strokes to your score.

I'm not sure what you mean by he's not playing in it.

It's a Better Ball, and he's partnered with Condie Rice.

Rule 31-7a certainly says that the side should have been disqualified for the breach of 14-3.
It would be interesting to understand the reasons for the Committee to waive the penalty of DQ.

Then should he not have argued that the infraction was for the pro-am competition and not the pga tour competition

Which event was he playing when he was DQd?
I thought it was the tour event not the oro-am.

                  That was my understanding too.

I can only think that the committee said it's a "fun" event so...

But, I do know of Pro-Am teams that have been DQd in the past.

These rules are just ludicrous. It seems they make up rules as what suits them best.

Yeah, I hear ya. 30 years is definitely not long enough for someone to learn about a rule.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

When you have the top rules officials still need to read up extensively and confer with others regarding rules, it's safe to say a playing professional shouldn't be considered in the same breath...

You know the old saying, those who can play, play. Those that can't...

Rule 14-3 is "Rules 101". So is Rule 6-1.

Professional golf is for big "boys and girls". Knowing the rules is part of that.

They changed things for Boo's playing partners didn't they. The rules of golf are down to one persons interpretation vs another's, why do you think there are so many definitions.

Who's to say that 50 other touring pros don't have a nerd ball in their bag to that would then constitute it not being unusual.

All professional sports have few rules that really govern play, golf is way over the top in this regard. I would love to see all other sports officiated like golf, everything would grind to a halt.

This is just another example if a stupid rule in golf.
