How often do you help your playing partners look for their balls...

I find that I only do it if it is close to when my ball lands.

Just wondering what other people's thoughts are.

With Swainer.....ususally about every second hole. But I don't mind, he's a good buddy.

If I am walking and they are riding, I don't bother unless it's in the area I am walking to.

If we are wallking, then I will always help...unless they hit it two fairways over.

Usually its me looking for my ball. But if I'm lucky enough to find mine quickly or know right off where I hit it. Of course I will help look for playing partners ball.

I'll help them look if we're in the same general area, but if I'm on the other side of the fairway or a way up in front or behind - they're on their own.

IMHO, this is a fundamental principle of "ready" golf.

I will help for about 1 minute, drop another, it beats looking, and most people dont play the ball as it lies,my usual playing partners pull it back into the fairway anyway.

I will usually tap it back in to the fairway and count the stroke. Sometimes I'll try to be heroic and smack it from the bad lie but I usually end up paying for it.

Exactly! I will play mine and if his is still lost by then I will help search briefly.
I will mind him of the group behind us if its deep in the woods,since he likely has to drop and take a penalty anyway.
Personally I agree that there's nothing worse than 4 guys looking for a ball from the following groups perspective.

I always help look...Its a good chance to look for other golf balls lost previous. I keep finding Platinum 1s usually within 2 feet in. I would think that more time would be spent to look for such expensive balls. But maybe I'm the ONLY poor golfer around that still hunts for the cash to play. I Dunno...

Since I normally play as a single and always ride, I'll help all the time, particularly if everyone else is walking. Usually, I can find it long before they get there. Now on the chance that it's mine that's in the crap, I won't be staying there for very long after finding someone else's ball before performing a SAR mission (search and rescue) on my own (I can't help it, I'm retired USAF!).
