Not Nick the (foot) wedge .

A shame that such a good golfer's reputation was tainted by these persistent rumours. There are so many of them, that it seems likely there is something to them.

Ok I haven't actually done this yet but my new favorite cheating trick is finding a seller of Prov1's and cleaning him out before anyone else gets a chance to buy them.

I once took a shot and landed in a divot...hit it right out of there with my 5 iron with about 225 left....and im a sub-par golfer

best way to learn is to take the rough route....

Former casual opponent was actually quite talented in placing his golf bag beside his poorly laying golf ball....the bag directly on a line between where I was and his ball....by the time I advanced to a point where I could see the ball again it was miraculously sitting pretty where previously I could barely see the top of the ball. This happened so often and was so predictable and annoying I discontinued the "enjoyment" of his company on the golf course.

A ball to be lifted under the Rules may be lifted by the player,
his partner or another person authorized by the player. In any
such case, the player is responsible for any breach of the
                  Rules.
The position of the ball must be marked before it is lifted under
a Rule that requires it to be replaced. If it is not marked, the
player incurs a penalty of one stroke and the ball must be
replaced. If it is not replaced, the player incurs the general
penalty for breach of this Rule, but there is no additional
                  penalty under Rule 20-1.
If a ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved in the process of
lifting the ball under a Rule or marking its position, the ball or
ball-marker must be replaced. There is no penalty, provided
the movement of the ball or ball-marker is directly attributable
to the specific act of marking the position of or lifting the ball.
Otherwise, the player incurs a penalty of one stroke under this
                  Rule or Rule 18-2a.
Exception: If a player incurs a penalty for failing to act in
accordance with Rule 5-3 or 12-2, there is no additional penalty
                  under Rule 20-1.
Note: The position of a ball to be lifted should be marked
by placing a ball-marker, a small coin or other similar object
immediately behind the ball. If the ball-marker interferes with
the play, stance or stroke of another player, it should be placed
one or more clubhead-lengths to one side.

Although the rules doesn't say replace exactly, I am pretty sure that is the intent of the rule.
                  20-3. Placing and Replacing

                  a. By Whom and Where

A ball to be placed under the Rules must be placed by the player or his partner. If a ball is to be replaced, the player, his partner or the person who lifted or moved it must place it on the spot from which it was lifted or moved. If the ball is placed or replaced by any other person and the error is not corrected as provided in Rule 20-6, the player incurs a penalty of one stroke. In any such case, the player is responsible for any other breach of the Rules that occurs as a result of the placing or replacing of the ball.

If a ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved in the process of placing or replacing the ball, the ball or ball-marker must be replaced. There is no penalty, provided the movement of the ball or ball-marker is directly attributable to the specific act of placing or replacing the ball or removing the ball-marker. Otherwise, the player incurs a penalty of one stroke under Rule 18-2a or 20-1.

If a ball to be replaced is placed other than on the spot from which it was lifted or moved and the error is not corrected as provided in Rule 20-6, the player incurs the general penalty, loss of hole in match play or two strokes in stroke play, for a breach of the applicable Rule.

20-7c/1 Ball Replaced at Wrong Place on Putting Green and Holed

                  Q. In stroke play, a competitor in replacing his ball on the putting green inadvertently put the ball in a wrong place nearby and holed out. The error was then discovered and the competitor put his ball in the right place and holed out. What is the ruling?

                  A. The score with the ball played from the wrong place counts and the competitor must add two penalty strokes to that score (Rule 16-1b or 20-3a and Rule 20-7c).

The competitor incurs no penalty for having putted from the right place after holing out from a wrong place.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Tipping the ball up for a better lie is a regular one, taking 3 foot putts as a gimme another,I turned around around just in time to catch one guy dropping a ball down the side of his leg when his lost ball wasnt being found but the guy who thought taking a practice putt to get the line was OK was a classic...HELLLLLLLLLOOO

                      Awesome!

The "power drop" is my favourite. The logic, as it has been explained to me, is that if you're gonna take a penalty for a drop, you might as well drop it on the fairway....

I like the ones who always seem to be one stroke better than what you counted them as. Than they do that count out with their body and show you, and it adds up to what you had.

My favorite has to be when my friends hit their ball out of play and unfindable, but instead of dropping a ball in a similar situation the ball would be in, they let one go on the fairway. My word this has to be the most annoying thing i've seen. At least have the decency to drop a ball in the rough where you can actually learn something when you hit it, dont reward yourself with better positioning from a lousy shot.

                                Re: your favorite CHEATING tricks

I play pretty clean golf I think, I take my strokes I play as lies "most" of the time, I do have the tendency to move the ball 1 inch if I hit a divot or some unstable ground... but my one cheating trick would be clearing ball path lol, my buddy was on my *** about this yesterday.

So I was in the fescue, had a little chip onto the green, I didnt touch the ball I actually had a pretty good lie, however maybe 3 ft in front of my ball there was very tall grass maybe reaching the knees, that "might" have gotten in teh way of my ball flight so I stepped on it both ways, parting the way.. only to put it in tight for a pick up lol.. however I see no problems with that move.

Ive seen people having assistance holding branches back so they have a full swing at the ball, and they tell me thats legal.. well whats the difference.

I would actually lie to see a Rule on this... if anyones got one please post.
