  • Handicap issue

I hope someone can help me with this problem. First of all I have to say I'm a stickler for entering all my scores on the GAO website(I'm a public player) I have a number of friends and a regular game twice a week at The Quarry golf course in the Peterborough area. The problem is the club in its infinite wisdom (or lack there of) has decided to withdraw from paying the fees to the GAO for its members this year thus removing it from the courses on the GAO website. My question is if there is any way to include the scores I record at the Quarry in my GAO handicap. Any help would be appreciated.

You can do that, but you're not supposed to since the course is not affiliated with the OGA.

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

Officially, it's course and slope ratings are no longer valid and must not be used.

You are not "supposed to" manually enter scores from courses that are not available in the pull down menus on the RCGA website, in other words, courses that are not members of their local association.

I have had to delete scores posted from courses that are not member of the GAO. To some, it might seem like a cash grab from the GAO however, if a course's slope and rating are not official, those posted on scorecards could be outdated and inaccurate.

Having said that, I'm not sure how often courses are re-rated and, with reference to another thread about playing out of bounds, courses that swap white stakes for red or move tee blocks around inadvertently, have inaccurate slopes and ratings even if they are members of the GAO.

Sorry, I missed that you were a Public Player.

My question to you would be, what have you personally done with regard to this course taking this decision? Have you expressed your thoughts to them?

My course? I'm not a member there, beside you think if I tell them to shell out the dough which they don't have just so I can keep a handicap they would? Don't think so, why would the gao even have a manual entry option than?

You hit the ball so far you can use Grey Silo as your home course and the shots just end up at Doon
