After using a Nike " Covert " driver for eight rounds I just had to order one.
The head pro. at my club was just great when it came to making sure the shaft and settings of the club were suited to my swing.
I played five rounds with the " Kuro Kage " black shaft then we switched to the silver, both regular flex which suited my 95 m.p.h. swing speed.
My new driver arrived and I returned the demo driver to the pro. shop, so do I hit this driver further than my 10.5 degree Cobra " AMP " driver ,, you bet I do and not just by a few yards.
Perfect indication of how much yardage I gained is our 5th hole at my club, the # 1 stroke hole on our course.
A 420 yard par four, it normally plays into a bit of a breeze and the second shot is slightly uphill.
Off the tee we have a pond that cuts two thirds of the way into the fairway starting about 200 yards off the tee. To carry this pond takes about a 225 yard " on the fly " tee shot and there is only a few members in our senior men's club that can regularly carry the pond.
I have hit numerous solid golf shots and just failed to carry the pond with my Cobra driver.
My new Nike driver is a whole different ball game, I'm not a big ball hitter but I pack a nine handicap and I can hit the ball fairly solid.
I'm five for five in carrying the pond with the new Nike driver in fact yesterday hitting into a bit of a breeze I carried the pond with ease and had 169 yards left for my approach.
For me that was huge, a drive of 250 yards into a breeze and the distance I'm obtaining with my new driver is consistent. If I had to put a conservative estimate on the difference, I'm averaging 25 yards more with the Nike " Covert " than I am with the Cobra " AMP " driver, both fitted with regular shafts Nike loft set at 9.5 Cobra set at 10.5.
