  • Bills' game in Toronto...

Rumours are the median ticket price will be around $250. What is wrong with these people. The median price in Buffalo is around $40. The highest ticket is $70 (not counting the premium seating).

This could be a fiasco and could ruin the chance of Toronto of having an NFL team in the future.

I have been to Buffalo 4 or 5 times (800 kms from here) but I don't think I will go to Toronto at this cost...

Gotta disagree Chambokl, I only think this enhances our chances of securing a franchise....

I think the eight games up here serves two purposes. #1 and I really mean #1, it shows the NFL that we have the $$$ to support a franchise here in Toronto. We are the 5th largest market in NA, why wouldn't they want to be here to tap into vast amounts of $$$ we have to offer. (Sure LA needs a franchise, but again $$$ is the underlying factor)

Secondly, I think this tryout plants the seed in the minds of everyone in the NFL...players, owners, etc...that playing here would be wildly popular and very profitable for all involved with minimal hassle. I believe that the heirs to Ralph Wilson's estate have no interest in running his NFL team. So it will eventually be relocated. Toronto is a natural fit for the Bills. (the added bonus is the relocation here would not upset the Bills being in their current AFC division.

Lastly, in the pursuit of good business, at the end of the day, do you really think that the NFL is concerned about the CFL or itself.

    JMHO...

I also heard on the radio that the median ticket price will be $250.

Toronto will easily support such ticket prices for the NFL........there is huge fan support here ., nt to mention all over the country and the NFL will be a huge draw

Will Buffalo fans pay that.......no chance but they dont care about that.........the stadium will be packed every game.

In Dallas for the new stadium they will pay as much as little as $16, 000 to a maximum $150, 000 just to get the option on a seat ( this is a 30 year option) and $340 a seat after that...........so for a pair you pay as much as $300, 000 for the option ans $680 a game.

This is the most expensive in the NFL mind you.

        Re: Bills' game in Toronto...

Its pretty simple as a friend of mine told me on the weekend. We always go, well at least almost once a season to buffalo.
The games here will be policed and regulated so that no fun, no tailgaiting, no drinking in public, no wandering cheerleaders etc.

So pay $250 here or $50 in buffalo. No fun here. Lots of fun there.
Time to drive there, just over an hr. So stay in a hotel, tailgaite, bkfst, come home and all for under $150-200 all inclusive or stay here with no fun, no drinks etc.
We stay by casino and after game we party and stay in hotel etc. Play a round of golf. it is perfect the way it is.

Toraider, I hope you are right, but from what I heard from Ontario people that goes to the games in Buffalo, there ain't much interest. Cost is way too much and no tailgaiting... hopefully I am wrong.

Shark, I am on your side. For all the people from Northern and Eastern Ontario and fans from the Province of Quebec the difference is the cost of the tickets ($200 -- $250 compared to $40). We still have to spend on motel, food, etc...

If they play to 60% full stadium, we can say good-bye to the NFL.

Toraider, will you pay $500 to $600 for you and your son to attend a game in Toronto?

We better hope the business community decide to take some $$ away from the Leafs and spend it on the Bills...

Do the math....what's the 'median price' for Leafs tickets....and they play 41 Home Games, The Bills only play 8 home games, and only 1 in Toronto....$250 would be a 'steal'
Every great idea starts out as a blasphemy

Shooter don't forget that the $250 applies to exhibition games as well.

I heard that to get tickets, you had to buy for everygame - in advance. So essentially shelling out $2000. Half of the games are exhibition and some of the games aren't until the 2012 season! I wouldn't mind paying $250 to see the Bills in T.O. if they are playing a decent team - but no way am I buying for all eight games, especially for games three years away.

That is apparently correct and was discussed at great lengthe by Bob McCowan last week on his show.

what was also said was that argo and tocat season tix holders get first crack ast the tix, then there are a certain alotment for Bill season holders and the remaining ( whatever that be ) will be offered to the gen public

yesterday the Ticats said they did not support/endorse the NFL games here??

there is no doubt that the atmosphere will be vastly different in TO than Buffalo, but IMO the games will be a huge success

I can not imagine that there would be many empty seats, if any...I can see the Big Corps buying up the preminum tickets leaving the more affordable ones for the general public.

$250 is going to be the average ticket price, so the tickets in the nosebleed sections should be cheaper. Would I go, I would consider it since the tickets I would buy would be cheaper. Even at $250 per ticket, assuming the seats were decent enough I would probably go. I'm a huge NFL fan, I live here and don't really care much for Hockey....blasphamy for sure, but Leafs fans pay more for their tickets. So I can justify it in my mind.

I don't have any kids, so that reduces my costs and makes my decision easier.

Those ticket prices are the reason the games are being played here. The Bills get great attendance, but due to the ultra-low ticket prices, they have some of the lowest gate revenues in the NFL. Playing the games in Toronto will be a winfall, and like others in this thread, I'm confident those tickets will all be sold.

Let's also remember that Rogers Centre (SkyDome in my heart), holds about 52,000 people, whereas Ralph Wilson Stadium holds 72,000+
