He was missing from the TM Christmas card and the recent launch of the SIM 2, has he gone. Felt like he was the best ambassador, with the fun and great personality.

most likely a case of, "what have you done for us lately", the proverbial fine print clause in every players contract.
I can't recall any modern player that were contracted and stayed with a company as long as Nicklaus(McGregor) and Snead(Wilson) did in their time.things change

I am quite sure that most of the higher profile players (and I would still include Jason day in this group) know exactly what they are doing vis-a-vis equipment sponsorships. These make their lives easier - allow for private jets, cover family travelling expenses and vacations, caddy expenses (not compensation), not worrying about missing the occasional cut, etc. And I am also quite sure that most club manufacturers can build clubs to each players specs and wishes. Cause, if they can't and the players are not successful, then the contracts dry up.
TM & Callaway compete more than others as they have more at stake. Multiple and competing new lines every year. TM has 12 lines of men's iron sets on the site now. Out with Sim 1 - in with Sim 2. Titleist has what I would call a more loyal following club-wise. Ball-wise - off the charts. Ping seems to have picked up a few higher profile players over the past few years, and they only launch new stuff every 2+ years. Mizuno - cult following with their unmatched "forged feel". PXG has their following also - would love to know what they would pay Zach or Pat for sponsorship. No good deed goes unpunished.
