    Re: Shooting your age.

We were playing Bradford Highlands from the white tees, which were playing at only 6,000 yards. We were carting, because I am unable to get through 18 holes on foot. We don't dawdle.

    What course is that ?

    2:20 for 18 (walking / "running"?) Is it ~5,000 yards ?

And / or every tee beside every green ?

Only possible chance for me to better my age is to play Scarlett Woods (and that would still be a great round)
This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

My dad beat his age last month at his home course Cedar Brae. Shot 81 a week prior to his 83rd birthday. Can't recall which hole he doubled coming in - 17 or 18.

My dad and mom still get out 4x a week typically Mon-Fri. A week or 2 ago talked to my mom and she shot 91 or 92 - can't recall. She's more typically shooting around 100 now.

An 81 at 83. Wow. Most of us would be happy that we hadn't cash in our chips by then.

Years ago after my father retired at the age of 58 and had time to golf he told me "son I'm going to shoot my age now" he did it 13 years latter stooting a 69 in a pro-am tournament.
He went on to shoot he age numorus times over the years.

I don't think I will ever be able to do it.

If he retired at 58, and shot his age 3 years later, wouldn't that be a 61?

              Re: Shooting your age.

I had a couple of lousy 9 hole scores and shot my age - 54.

While I lived in London, I remember the London Free Press interviewing him one day as he came off the course. He was in his 90's at the time. The reporter asked him if he had shot his age. He was quite indignant and said something to the effect that he was a better player than to do that!

                  i'm 34. that'd be -2 at my home course for 9.

Ed Ervasti was an exceptional and renown golfer.

Actually the line went something more like:

'Ed, did you shoot your age again today?' to which he replied 'No, I didn't play that bad'.

I loved that when I read it.

He hits the ball so straight with that Moe Norman swing. Love to watch him play. Rich, how come we can't find our own hole, much less the fairway?

                              Re: Shooting your age.

I golfed with 2 guys this morning at Rebel Creek who both shot their age recently.

Gary is 66, and Rich is 74
Rich is Moe Norman's brother-> but did not have Moe's style of swing.
                              I hope to swing that good when I'm 66 and 74 !
I really enjoyed today's round with them !
