I really don't get what he gains by coming out in support of these clowns. Sure he has every right to agree with them, but for god sakes why do it publicly?! This guy is a PR nightmare. Maybe he believes he's getting brownie points for when he reaches the pearly gates.

I don't condemn anyone. To have an opinion is someones right. If he was raised very religious then modern thinking or old thinking it's his opinion. We are used to famous people speaking out and just because he may not match popular thinking doesn't mean he can't use his celebrity.

On tgn often when someone differs from popular opinion they get crucified. Smart or boneheaded it's an opinion.

Myself? On this issue. I am not very religious at all. Do believe in God, try to be good, that's it.no church unless weddings or funerals.

However do I think gay marriage should be called that? No. I think union or whatever it has been called in past makes more sense. I think it should have all the same rights etc. my dads side of family is huge, many brothers and sisters. One of my uncles is gay and he is awesome. I just don't think it should be called "marriage".

But chick fil a and their hate on and all this gods wrath etc is nuts. Obviously nobody chooses to be gay they are born gay. Who would purposely choose a life of harassment .. etc.

He has the right to his opinion and express it, whether we agree with it or not. It's ironic how some people complain that athletes are bland interviews, but when they express their thoughts, they get crapped on.

Those who espouse literal biblical interpretations had better be sure they agree with the whole book, cherry picking should not be allowed.

It's one thing for fans to wrongly assume that athletic success correlates to heightened levels of wisdom and intelligence. It's quite another for athletes to make the same mistake about themselves. It should come as no surprise that they might be taken to task for their silly, mean-spirited, or just plain dumb statements. If you are a public figure, it goes with the territory.

I don't agree with the public figure bit, never have.
I do agree with your statement about fans assuming athletic prowess and heightened levels of wisdom in other areas. Sadly, many people care what athletes think about other topics. Personally I shrug off any opinions made by an athlete that is outside of their profession.
