  • What are you reading?

Just thought I would start a thread for folks to share what they are currently reading or what they have read recently...

Just picked up a copy of Mossad - Operations of Israeli Secret Service.

So far, it is completely one-sided. Nevertheless, as a fan of spy/espionage books, so far so good.

i buy and sell a lot of used books, only keeping good copies of the classics. since we finished the renos i've been slowly unpacking my classics and have recently re-read grapes of wrath, waiting for godot, huck finn, and a couple other gems

i just picked up a casual vacancy which my gf bought but hasn't started yet. not a very gripping intro. hopefully it'll improve soon, though the reviews say it's no HP, lol

I just finished The Golden Mean, about Artistole's tutoring of Alexander the Great. Not a bad read. Open City by Teju Cole is next on the list.

Recenly finished novels by John Lawton and Allen Furst, both great authors of 1930's / 40's era thriller / spy / cop type novels. currently have Keith Richards Life on the go, half way through, so far meh....

Bobby Kennedy: His Life By Evan Thomas...great read that sheds light on the influence he had on his brother Jack as AG and how he championed the civil rights movement. Haven't read a fiction book since the Harry Potter series as for some reason they just don't do it for me anymore

                  Re: What are you reading?

I tend to have a number of books on the go at any one time. At the moment I'm reading An Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks; Bursts by Albert-Laszlo Barabasi; The Pocket Book of Great Operas, by Henry W. Simon and Abraham Veinus and just started rereading Logic and Language edited by Anthony Flew, and I am just about to start Lone Survivor - The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and The Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10 by Marcus Lutterell with Patrick Robinson. At some point, I finish each book that I have on the go. For some reason that happens more quickly when I am in Alabama.
This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

I have the tendency to read several books on the go as well. With few exceptions, I temd to lose interest quickly and don't end up finishing them.

What I have on the go now are:

The Last Gun Fight re the shootout at OK Corral
No Easy Day re the hunting and killing of Bin Laden
Our Kind Of Traitor by John LeCarre

One book that I did finish: A Fish Caught In Time. I highly recommend it.

prior book was the Steve Jobs biography. don't read that much. Usually the daily Globe & Mail is all the time I have.

What do you think of this? I forced myself to finish it but it was like choking down liver.
