Describing The Source as the new trend in electronic retail however tells me the author fails to understand the new shopping concept, or has never entered one. Source prices equal the gouge meter setting of your typical corner store that you frequent in odd moments of desperation.
With on-line shopping becoming the trend, the 2nd major players to benefit will be the private delivery system.
God forbid that Canada Post would want to get in on that.

Re: is small beautiful?
Our only electronic store in our small town is The Source..... I don't remember the last time I went there.... Awful service, not much choice, never have what you want in stock....
I'd rather travel to Future Shop... at least I know they will have what I am looking for.
At the end of the day... it is all about service. If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

My wife says small is beautiful! Wait, what was the question again?

I won't pretend to be familiar with its tenets, maybe some of you are.
The reason I raise the topic is in light of the Big Box retailers experiencing a downturn in their retail model. Future and Best Buy just closed 15 stores.
On this forum we constantly boast of doing just that and it's interesting to see the impact it has.
Is Big on its way out?

Re: is small beautiful?
Online is certainly changing the traditional bricks and mortar retail business. On top of that, suburban growth is down and urban growth is up. Retailers are getting good at smaller format stores with better product ordering systems for what they don't have in store/stock.
I just got home from Seattle and they have an urban target, 3 stories in a mixed use building downtown. Great format for them. It should do well, was quite busy
