That's my thought. Whoever told the fans that didn't know much better that he was some power forward who was going to kick *** and take names while putting up 50+ all the time should be hung!

Odds that Reimer is in the blue and white next year?

Carlyle and Reimer will not be back together next year. The next 15 games will determine who goes.

I was thinking of starting a Clarkson thread dedicated to the subject but maybe for now, I'll just post here...

So in watching last night's game, I honestly feel that not even Clarkson is appreciated by his teammates. They don't pass to him (maybe resenting his contract?) and just everything about him is awful...

I think a few weeks ago on their Florida trip, I recalled him starting to play better. But it seems with Clarkson, he's one step forward, then two steps back...

So now fast forward to last night and he probably does MAYBE one or two 'good things' a game whereas with decent players, they'll do one or two good things a shift... Clarkson to me seems to bobble passes, can't make many plays except for the odd one, hits but gets hit himself and in the process, gets rocked (he's not that big), takes shots from afar only to be saved or blocked, etc...

I've never seen him prior to this when he was in New Jersey but was he 'always' like this (as in, this bad)? Or did his confidence maybe just drop while playing for the blue and white?? (which CAN happen too).
I think if Bolland's return doesn't boost his play, then maybe nothing will... and yes, if he can produce in the playoffs, it'll totally overshadow his regular season play for sure! But now, what's the chances of that happening??

I think something serious has to happen in Reimer's play and Berny's health for Reimer to return as an RFA. They've put some stock inot JB and if he can roll like this into the playoffs and not be the reason we LOSE a series.... JB is the starter next year.

If this season doesn't end well, playoffs or not, and the leafs are in the bottom 4 or 5 teams defensively, Reimer will still be in a leaf uniform when Carlyle packs his bags. If defence does this season in for the leafs, hes done.

But what about Reimer? Can they afford to pay him for a multi-year deal? I think Bernier is up for renewal the end of next season.... and that man will be in for a sexy pay-day.

Only two scenarios for Reimer as he won't be a backup next year. Either he gets rolling and takes his job back, or his play cements his departure. I predict he gets rolling.

Reimer won't be back next year. I'd bet a sleeve of ProV's on it. I would love to see Carlyle gone too, but I don't see that dependant on Reimer leaving (Carlyle staying would guarantee Reimer going though - quite clear what RC thinks of Reimer).

It's nice having two decent Goalie's who are fighting for a number 1 spot.

If Reimer goes lights out and puts this team on his back for a bit, He'll be holding a gun to nonis's head regarding Carlyle's future.

Unrelated; With this team playing so poorly defensively, would Nonis be tempted to enter the inevitable Barry Trotz sweepstakes that is about to take place at seasons end?

I was going to compare Clarkson to Jason Blake but Jason Blake had better stats than Clarkson while playing for the Leafs.

Surprised the media hasn't jumped all over Clarkson's crappy production this year.

Uhhhh no. Not at all. Would he like to have the 1st one back? Sure. It was still a breakaway, and really a bad pinch plus a brutal read by Franson. If Phaneuf did what Gleason did, people would be all over him. You'd like to have your goalie stop the 3rd one but it was a perfectly executed 2 on 1. 2nd goal was a great shot on another partial breakaway.

Not sure, he stated Reimer "was ok, just ok"

Reimer and his agent have publicly taken offence to it so their opinion is that Carlyle was being critical.

Maybe it motivates Reimer to have a great game tonight?

Things seem to be on edge and unravelling a little in Leaf land. A big game tonight and the Habs this weekend should get the juices flowing.
